If homo's would stop ass fuckin each other, junkies stop using dirty needles, and perverts would stop having unprotected sex, AIDS would cease to exist.

AIDS is an awful disease, and It takes the lives of many. However, I find it disturding that AIDS gets the media attention it does. It seems as if AIDS is a very "trendy" disease to fight. I even noticed that MTV was launching a special about AIDS, featuring today's latest pop icons.

AIDS kills far less people than Cancer, yet the media seems to focus on AIDS. Why?

Is it becaue AIDS is preventable? And by targeting the brain dead of today, they feel that they can stop irresponsable sex? Or is it because AIDS specials bring in the readers and viewers?

Breast Cancer, if detected early, is also preventable. Yet I dont see half as much coverage on the topic. Cancer just doesnt seem as "cool" to talk about.

Put everyone with AIDS in isolation like what used to be done with lepers.

As a person who's lost many close friends to AIDS, I can tell you, the main problem was this disease probably could have been lessened had Ronald Reagan and his christian fuck buddies not been so stingy with AIDS funding early on....they dismiessed it as a gay diease and let it fester...

"irresponsible behavior"? Do you realise how many CHILDREN die due to blood transfusions that weren't properly screened (remember when it was only "a gay disease"?) Maybe we should napalam the Christan fuckers who were responible for that? or the doctors?

Children are the innocent victims, but they are victims (most often) of someone who was engaging in risky behavior.

Your point is taken, but as it's mainly a lament about human nature, I'm not sure that it points to a solution.

Males are the biggest problem. The flow of fluids in heterosexual sex at least is male > female. Men need to jerk off more and fuck less. This is where our industry comes in and makes a positive contribution.

Except for the VERY young, the very old, and the very sickly in our culture, flu is a killer mostly a killer in the Third World.

What bugs me most is the way AIDS isn't treated like any other communicable STD, where you need to reveal your sex partners so the health authorities can do something to stem the spread. Instead, we get a lot of whining about how this might cause some "stigma" making it harder for victims to get and keep jobs and insurance, etc. Well, gee, since when did that become more important than promoting public health? That kind of stuff shouldn't happen, and having huge fines for companies that can be proven to do that would minimize that effect.
