Anyone using windows 7 ?

What is the biggest problems you ran into ? I'm told that any software and any driver working on vista should work on windows 7, is that true ?

Any noticeable performance changes compared to windows xp / vista ? (good or bad)

HorseShit 07-01-2009 04:52 PM

there is like 100 windows 7 threads.

Yup, using it for a while... way better than vista and even better than xp. I'm not usually impressed but they are finally getting closer to "getting it right".

Biggest problem:
I cant get "classic desktop theme" unless i install some 3rd party crap that slows the system down

Drivers and software for Vista will work on W7 in 99% of the time. Teh only that wont work on both are those that integrate with the desktop (most work, but some wont)

If your system is based on a intel i7 quad core, you will REALLY REALLY feel a huge difference if you select the 64bit version

so far so good on windows 7, much better than vista.

Awesome, Windows 7 is already multi-threading on GFY, sorry I didn't catch all the other threads

Ugh switching to classic view is always the first I do, I'm installing the 64bit version but got only a Intel T7300 processor but hoping to get some extra power out of it still(it's an older laptop). Can you get any quad cores for laptops now?

Love it. Faster than Vista.

Will be using it in the next week.

Agree, Windows 7 is where it's at... leagues above Vista

Honestly I've used vista and windows 7 with my daily routine and 7 is still loaded with bugs. 7 Just seems flashier with extra features.

Try a modified vista copy (assuming you own a product key so it's not considered stealing), the people that modified vista in the extreme edition took out a lot of un-needed shit.

Downloading now, never had too many issues with Vista so hopeful of no situations

Vendzilla 07-01-2009 08:33 PM

had it for a week or two, working great, just installed it on a friends laptop

I have been testing Windows 7 for about 4 months and it is a big improvement over Vista but not worth me going back from the Mac I just bought. Vista was a real big fuck up.

spider_x 07-01-2009 08:39 PM

Blows vista and xp away, hands down!

I think it uses less resources. Seems to run faster. I did put it on an old computer that didnt have an sound drivers for vista so I need to get a new sound card. I like it best so far. Actually like windows now finally after all these years.

100x better then vista better then xp only if your running 4+ gigs ram in it.

64 bit xp sucks ass if you have 4 or more gigs ram windows 7 rocks but less then 4 gigs ram xp will be better.

I use this OS maybe 1 months and no problem for me so far everything is work nice and smooth, take less space than vista look like vista even better and its pretty fast.

There are no Intel Centrino 2 Quadcore processors yet, but your T7300 chipset you have is fairly good.

There is very few laptops with a quadcore intel I7 CPU on the market.
Alienware http://www.dell.com/content/products...=us&l=en&s=dhs
Clevo http://www.clevo.com.tw/en/products/...p?productid=19

I would however reccomend you wait a little, since these are the first batch of laptops that use the I7 cpu. It's best to wait untill we know if they really work
