Recommend me some tunes similar to MIA
 

Lately all the rage music is wearing on me. I still love power metal, thrash, and crust, but I need some chill happy tunes in the mix. I've found myself listening to shitloads of MIA lately. I smoke a fatty, throw her 'Kala' album on repeat, and goto work. It's nice and chill, I like it, good stuff. Anyone recommend something with a similar vibe?

got a good kick out of this random review of her I found:

that's pretty funny. i guess i can understand what he's saying about the lyrics coming across as jibberish, but i would far from call it crap. i really like the vibe the whole album's got going on. i can pretty much listen to it straight through. i think she's one talented little chicky myself, i like her voice, and am feelin her style for sure.

I agree with Shoplifter, Santogold is definitely better.

Check out Major Lazer's Hold The Line for similar sounds. It was produced by 2 of MIA's frequent producers.

Nice, I like it. I'll have to look into who produces her stuff, because it's the sound to her songs I really enjoy. Shit flows well with you when you're smoked up...

MIA very nice indeed. I think early on she got lots of encouragement and support from Peaches.

Look for Diplo, Switch, Freqnasty and Blaqstarr.

Oh, DJ A-Trak as well. Diplo is the king of the genre though. Search for him first.

Santo/ Santigold is ai'ight, but there's not a whole lot that's as complex as MIA, sadly.

Morcheeba is always a good one for me, and lately I've been on a huge Neko Case kick -- not anything like MIA, but nice compositions and a voice like an angel. Also kinda am in love with LCD Soundsystem.
