To do daily updates or not?
 

Our site FTVgirls.com currently does regular updates for members of about ever 3 days. There is talk that the site has better retention if we do daily updates. Now that makes sense, but....

our updates are huge, that is 100s of photos, or in combination with video that can be in excess of 100megabytes per update.

So split it up and make daily updates? eg. less material updated but essentially being the same amount total per month, or keep it as is?

Any words of wisdom from the vets out there?

I aint a vet, but a long time ago Pierre Trudeau brought litres for gas rather than gallons in Canada. Before the change it was 25cents per gallon. After the change to litres he charged 5cents a litre and we all know 5 litres to a gallon. everyone was extactic over the change :winkwink:

Just buy a-conman so you dont have to update it. Its a pretty cool program, we use it on our sites.

I send traffic to one site that updates daily, and it retains like a motherfucker, so I'd say give it a try.

A-conman is 999 bucks for a light version. This is fucking nuts. Damn I programed this for my sites in less than 2 hours. Ok its not flexible because I programed it for my sites exclusively but still ....

If you can update your sites every day, then do it. Yes, it helps with better retention all the way around.

And if your putting up 100 pictures every three days, why not split them into two sets of 50 each? Call the first half "Part One" and the second half "Part Two".

Recently there was a password site listed here on GFY. I got the chance to peak into a handful of sites that I've always wanted to look at. One was a cheerleader site. Once in the member's area the site had nothing but other people's feeds in it, including our Cheerleaders Gone Wild. That's not a website; That's bullshit - It's no wonder surfers are afraid to whip out their credit cards.

i found a better cheerleaders paysite - NO CHEERLEADERS at all - nada, zero, zip, zilch, not a cheerleader pic or video to be found.

even if you split your content to do this, daily updates give the impression of more content!

If you say you are going to update daily make sure you have the resources to do it.

Missing even one update will piss people off and hurt your retention.

I got a rave listing for my http://www.girlsdotcom.com site from Jane's Guide?almost as good, in fact, as the one they gave ATKingdom!?and I get a good share of my traffic from there.

Put up a good site and have regular updates. I update every three days myself, and I know retention improved after I switched from doing weekly updates. I really think that daily updates will not result in a huge difference. The main thing is how much the site doesn't suck. After that, updates ever 2-4 days are probably frequent enough.

if you don't have 999, go get a programmer to do a lighter-version for less....

if u have 100-200 pics each three days make 40-100 added daily. if u have no time to do that by hands get a script that will take sets from an update pool and will put 'em online daily
