How many people here use new Windows 7?

Let`s see...
Are you using windows 7? How can you rate the new system?

Martin 06-26-2009 07:38 AM

Better then 8. I installed 8 and uninstalled it the next day.

kowalsky 06-26-2009 08:40 AM

Is it already in market??

twinkley 06-26-2009 08:54 AM

I am installing the release candidate on my oldest machine (was running win2000) today. My boyfriend has been using it for a little bit now, and says it MUCH better than vista (I believe his words were "this is what vista should have been")

I will let ya know what I think once I have it installed, from what I have seen on his machine so far, I think its gonna be decent.

I am using Windows 7---I like it alot... Its clean and fast.

Jeppe 06-26-2009 01:16 PM

I just installed the 7 RC on my home pc yesterday and so far it's running very smooth and fast. I use Firefox as my browser, but am truly impressed at how fast IE8 renders web pages.

If it continues to run this good, I'll even install it on my work laptop as well.

I use Windows 10.2 :pimp

solopimps 06-26-2009 01:42 PM

I played around with a Beta version that was floating around like 6 or 7 months ago, I remember it booted WAY faster then Vista, and things just seemed to flow more smoothly. Is there a full version that's out that you guys are using?

Horny Joe 06-26-2009 01:50 PM

I have been running Windows 7 RC on my laptop for about 3 weeks now. Not a single problem. All drivers are there, just plug & play! The system runs MUCH smoother than Vista did. I was supposed to install Ubuntu on my LT, but decided to test W7 and ... quite frankly I only miss linux a little bit :)

The start up is faster that Vista. I don't know about running W7 on old machines. My LT have 4GB ram, Pentium T3400 CPU and Ati HD3470 graphic card. Works like a dream. Of course not as fast as Ubuntu, but not very much from it!

If you are on Vista now and like it, you will love Windows 7. If you don't like Vista you will still like W7.

You can download the release candidate here which will work until March 2010. You just need your Live ID to get a product key.

Porko 06-26-2009 01:53 PM

not yet but i will

Available thru july.... expires June 1, 2010

HorseShit 06-26-2009 01:56 PM

still on Windows 1.0 here

biskoppen 06-26-2009 01:58 PM

Windows 7 is so much faster than Vista.. going to buy it as soon as it hits the street

quantum-x 06-26-2009 02:07 PM

7 is fantastic.
Speed, stability, etc.

Even better - photoshop cs4 never uses more than 300mb idle, instead of vista and xp where it used to clock up gigs

Ravage 06-26-2009 02:33 PM

I'm running the RC on my rig at home on the third drive. Its better than the two vista installs I have here in the office on my laptop and desktop machine.
I haven't had much time to play around with it, but its seems pretty good.

I would look at getting it retail when it comes out.

Vendzilla 06-26-2009 02:42 PM

working great for me, less load on the processor, everything just works better

Cyber Fucker 06-26-2009 03:16 PM

Not using... but after reading your posts it seems to sound good to me so I might try it one day.

eroticsexxx 06-26-2009 03:28 PM

Tried it in multiple configurations and it runs like a charm.

The least powerful config was a Pentium 4 (2 ghz) with 1.5 gb of RAM.

No probs at all.

bronco67 06-26-2009 03:31 PM

Said it earlier, but its worth repeating.

While it may seem Ok on the surface, its slow compared to Vista. I run 5 systems, with XP, Seven and Vista. The Vista machine is fastest by a wide margin in 3d rendering, which happens to be a pretty good system benchmark.

I'd wait for a service pack....or 2

Were all of them the same configuration?

Bus/RAM speeds, drive fetch times and other factors can effect a benchmark.

Recently installed Windows 7 on a laptop that had Vista and the Benchmark put Windows 7 on top.

Your anecdotal evidence is in contrary to pretty much all quantitative data out there.

just a punk 06-26-2009 05:01 PM

Will be waiting for Windows 10. Who knows may be it will be a really useful operating system.

NaughtyRob 06-26-2009 05:24 PM

Fuck all that, I am still on XP.

spider_x 06-26-2009 05:26 PM

Windows 3.11 never fails.

HomerSimpson 06-26-2009 06:26 PM

I'm still on XP but might give it a shot when I find some free time...

Just telling you what I saw, based on performance with Mental Ray rendering. It may be faster at other stuff, but where it counts for me, it just didn't cut it.

But I liked the OS and I'm very hopeful that they'll get it back up to the speeds that the BETA was rumored to have. But I think most people are going to find it zippy and very productive, as long as they don't do a lot of 3d rendering(which most don't).

I'm mostly basing what i'm saying on two identical i7 920 rigs running at the same clock speed.

StaceyJo 06-26-2009 08:42 PM

Interested here but I need time to upgrade my OS.

born2blog 06-26-2009 08:43 PM

I'm using it on my laptop, have a dual boot with UBUNTU, I really enjoy using Windows 7

A few friends that are high end IT engineers use it. They said the same exact thing.

I think of it as Vista 2.0.

When I first started using it, I said "oh yeah, this is basically Vista."

But its not like Microsoft is trying to hide that or anything.

It's probably too soon to judge the 3D rendering capabilities of Windows 7, but Windows 7 features an updated driver model WDDM 1.1 that accelerates 2D and 3D rendering, offers improved video memory management and higher performance.

And it has the capability to offload graphics performance to the CPU without an advanced GPU. If the performance in Beta is that good, the release will be solid.

bbobby86 06-27-2009 01:59 AM

7 is much better than Vista... 99% says like that...

voa 06-27-2009 05:37 AM

I use the new windows 7 and i think is the best OS from Microsoft so far.Its a fast doesnt require to much space on your pc and interface is like vista with lot of nice effects

Manowar 06-27-2009 06:02 AM

still rocking vista here

stoner529 06-27-2009 06:12 AM

ive seen it. the only thing i dont like about changing an os is that you have to redo all programs and data back up. that takes weeks for me.
