Google Bans image search stealing...

Seems Google is now banning sites that steal image search results from other sites.

As in, you search google images for "big tits" and when you click on a link to porngod.com and his pic of big tits you instead are sent to SomeOtherGuy.com and that guy was hotlinking porngod.com's images to get the google result.

The site doing the hotlinking and redirection receives the ban.

Bye...

Finally, my blog is so leeched by other sites that use my images. I never changed the location because I used the images multiple times through out my site.

Tom_PM 06-25-2009 08:32 AM

Maybe microsofts latest bing ad campaign lit a fire under them to clean up the results.

Soon google will ban news. Watch out!

CarlosTheGaucho 06-25-2009 09:09 AM

If you get enough market share and dominance, you can start to change the internet.

Why not, I don't think a cleanup can do that much harm, if you consider how many Google results immediately target illegal / questionable websites full of stolen content.

From what I've seen, all they're banning is bullshit that didn't deserve to be ranking anyways.

Good news for people who create real sites with original content. Bad news for people who use the latest greatest SE widget script to try and create a site with a few mouse clicks and sit back and wait for the $$ to roll in. :2 cents:

What you are going to see now is something new. They are on the hunt now so to speak, and banning is not the only consequence for such actions :winkwink:

Most of these 'redirects' or 'stolen redirects' are just results gained from rss fed blogs.

I made a decent amount of the dogfart rss feeds, and the results for their hosted galleries redirecting to my main site. Which was were the images were diplayed through rss feed.

For the record too, many of those serps are still showing, so not sure how thorough their ban was.

You mean like illegal tube sites?

Until they target that shit, nothing else they do will count for sqwat.

so they banned blogspot.com ?
or are they just banning the page or just the blog?

are all the blogs that get feed from sponsor rss feeds gonna get banned?

you better post some proof before WE BAN YOU!

V_RocKs 06-25-2009 04:30 PM

No... It is or was a widely known fact that you can steal other peoples image traffic by linking to their images on one page and then using redirection to send them to another page. I believe the ban is actually for the redirection.

So steps to get banned:

Create a new page consisting of current google images results for keywords you want. Then load the page up with the keywords and some other text and some links using the keywords... Now you have a page that is kind of a mirror of the google images page.

Now link to that page with the keywords you want from some other site just so googlebot will find it.

Googlebot now gives this page the result for many of the images even though they are just hotlinked.

Now create some kind of redirection, meta, javascript, etc to send the surfer to your blog, tube, TGP, etc and break the google images search iframe.

Walla... That entire domain this image page sits on is now banned in google.

V_RocKs 06-25-2009 04:38 PM

So to reiterate, this ban only happens when you target the current results... Not just by hotlinking.
