I was thinking the same thing lol

d-null 06-23-2009 06:40 PM

shouldn't google be drastically discounting site wide linking value overall?

seems 99% of sitewide linking is done to manipulate

Supz 06-23-2009 06:43 PM

they are doing some heavy cracking down

jscott 06-23-2009 06:46 PM

I hope so :) that would fucking ROCK!!!! I always felt those mass submitter tools, linkex, and all that shit that allows cutting corners would catch up and help out us hard working negros someday :)

mynameisjim 06-23-2009 06:58 PM

I haven't seen anything but I haven't been checking. But I never ran linkex from day one. I knew the day would come when it would get pinched by google either on purpose or by accident.

FlexxAeon 06-23-2009 07:00 PM

stopped using it a while ago. it's still on some of my older sites but i've long since masked it and hidden it from links/bots

i was getting SE hits daily for the term "linkex" that shit just didn't sit well with me

go go thnderball

I'm getting so paranoid I'm starting to go away from the whole idea of "blogroll" or "friends" type of linking, especially when it is sitewide, deep inlinks from a single page within a site has to be the best most realistic natural confidence vote out there, just wondering when google will move more and more in that direction?

Nicky 06-23-2009 07:11 PM

Good, had it on a few blogs but never liked it.

i dunno blogrolls in general are a staple now thanks to wordpress and the like. and we all know google hearts wordpress. seems more reasonable that they'd target the blatant "auto-pilot" usage or linking to someone.

Agreed, I never understood why people used that crap.

Any proof of this?

This is why people trading hardlinks with their blogs should trade within posts instead.

TeenSluts 06-23-2009 09:12 PM

I never liked linkex. if anyone wants to do some real link trades with my blogs... send me an email :)

Brujah 06-23-2009 09:47 PM

If this is true, quit using Google for your own searches, and recommend others visiting your sites stop using them too. Start using Bing.com instead.

dav3 06-23-2009 09:57 PM

Bing!!!!

Iron Fist 06-23-2009 10:06 PM

I think im going to get rid of hardlinks on all my sites... just interink within myself for hardlinks from now on... just too much work to keep having to check links for cheaters.

sexygirls 06-23-2009 10:34 PM

Bad news for the linkex users

yes, I don't think the blogrolls and sitewide links will invite any actual penalty or banning, I just think that they will likely lose most of their value

I sense it not happening, but you never know ..

EthnicLover 06-23-2009 11:22 PM

Not one shred of proof in this entire thread.

Where's the proof?!?

Matt 26z 06-23-2009 11:33 PM

Google needs to be investigated by the FTC.

It really seems as if they are trying to squash any form of traffic buying and trading that doesn't involve doing it though AdWords.

First they ban any site selling hard links and state that if you want to sell links, fine, they just won't include you in their search engine anymore.

Now they appear to be going after scripts that make link trading possible.

VikingStar 06-23-2009 11:42 PM

ok......

NinjaSteve 06-24-2009 02:06 AM

If there is any truth to a linkex banning, it does seem that godgle is getting a little carried away with itself.

But honestly, I'm going to have to call bullshit on this linkex banning. I have linkex on one site and it's G traffic is currently growing. *knocks on wood*

V_RocKs 06-24-2009 02:13 AM

I haven't seen anything that supports this...

With Smart Thumbs it was obvious... 1000's of TGP's wiped from page 1 and 2 to pages 5 through 10....

I am not seeing this with Linkex.

LaoTzu 06-24-2009 02:32 AM

Not banned...

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&r...&aq=f&oq=&aqi=
38,000 Results.

Same thing I was thinking, easier to make another bunch of my own blogs on a few cheap shared accounts or even freehosts like smut/tlogger etc, than keep up and constantly check for missing recips.. not the same volume of trades but mind at peace.

SmartThumbs ban didn't completely remove the sites from google, their positions on SERPs dropped several pages down.. so the fact that there are 38.000 results indexed doesn't mean much, webmasters who use linkex will confirm or deny their SE traffic drop..

unless you modified the script (or there is a new version I'm not aware of), it writes "generated by linkex" in your source code :) the rest is straight HTML, it's true - and google sees it that way because it executes the php, but linkex writes out that it generated it hehe

There is a special variable in LinkEX:
PHP Code:

var $exposelinkex 1

The only thing you need to do is to change it as follows:
PHP Code:

var $exposelinkex 0

And there will be no "generated by linkex" bullshit in your HTML code :winkwink:

So I will ask again:

How Google will know if I'm using linkex?

Show me where your using it and I will show you how.

You are crazy if you think something so MINOR as a "powered by' link is how they will find them all.
