would you want to go on?

just saw this on ESPN News, a pro golfer, 40 years old, plays on the Nationwide tour which is a step lower than the PGA Tour. His wife was killed in a traffic accident today, his two kids were with the mom and are in critical condition.

if you lost your entire young family, wife and kids, would you want to go on?

hopefully the kids survive. the 16 year old daughter was driving the car. :Oh crap

It's tough, but life goes on.

VP Joe Biden suffered a similar ordeal:

Quote:

On December 18, 1972, a few weeks after the election, Biden's wife and one-year-old daughter were killed in an automobile accident while Christmas shopping in Hockessin, Delaware.

Neilia Biden's station wagon was hit by a tractor-trailer as she pulled out from an intersection; the truck driver was cleared of any wrongdoing. Biden's two sons, Beau and Hunter, were critically injured in the accident, but both eventually made full recoveries.

Biden considered resigning in order to care for them; he was persuaded not to by Senate Majority Leader Mike Mansfield and others and was sworn into office from one of their bedsides. The accident left Biden filled with both anger and religious doubt: "I liked to [walk around seedy neighborhoods] at night when I thought there was a better chance of finding a fight ... I had not known I was capable of such rage ... I felt God had played a horrible trick on me."

In order to be at home every day for his young sons, Biden began the practice of commuting every day by Amtrak train for 1½ hours each way from his home in the Wilmington suburbs to Washington, D.C., which he continued to do throughout his Senate career.

In the aftermath of the accident, he had trouble focusing on work, and appeared to just go through the motions of being a senator. In his memoirs, Biden notes that staffers were taking bets on how long he would last.

A single father for five years, Biden left standing orders that he be interrupted in the Senate at any time if his sons called. In remembrance of his wife and daughter, Biden does not work on December 18, the anniversary of the accident.

Biden's elder son, Beau, later became Delaware Attorney General and an Army Judge Advocate serving in Iraq; his younger son, Hunter, became a Washington attorney and lobbyist.
I hope he finds the strength to mourn, recover and go on, and raise his children well...

I heard that :(

Micheal Breed who does the golf fix on the golf channel mentioned it. I think they were pretty close.

That would be amazingly rough to deal with.

GrouchyAdmin 06-22-2009 08:59 PM

Yeah, you're wife's a goner, but you got a birdie!

EscortBiz 06-22-2009 09:04 PM

sad story but sometimes i think god has a way of pushing people almost to their limit

bloggingseo 06-22-2009 09:11 PM

That is horrible. He still has children that may make it. That is reason enough to hang on. If they all died, I am sure it would be awful, but I bet he would pull through but the time and agony it would take would be heart wrenching.

brassmonkey 06-22-2009 09:14 PM

he better play like farve did

GrouchyAdmin 06-22-2009 09:19 PM

Kind of like what OJ said when he heard about Shatner's wife:

"Fuck. The pool!"

Spunky 06-22-2009 09:20 PM

It sure would be very tough, but you have to move on .his wife would want it that way..hope his kids pull through

SilentKnight 06-22-2009 09:39 PM

Brings to mind the heavyweight boxer George Chuvalo:

"Chuvalo lost three sons, Steven Louis Chuvalo, Jesse Chuvalo and Georgie Lee Chuvalo, to drug overdoses. He lost his wife to suicide after the second son died."

NaughtyRob 06-22-2009 09:52 PM

I would go on for the kids. If they all died, no I would not want to go on.

justinsain 06-22-2009 10:09 PM

I'd live for the kids but if I lost my whole family I don't think even Don Cheadle could talk me into going on.

FilthyRob 06-22-2009 10:15 PM

Very sad story. Hope he finds strength and the kids pull through.

raven1083 06-22-2009 11:19 PM

voa 06-22-2009 11:48 PM

Its really tough for him but thats it he cant bring his family back no matter what he will do.Sad news for sure

Rochard 06-23-2009 06:21 AM

Yeah, you still have to go on. Because at the end of the day life is still worth living, and there are better things in your future.
