question for affiliate managers..this pisses me off

OK..every couple of weeks I get an actual email from an affiliate manager(not your typical mass email that tries to sound personal)...saying they really would like to do this or that with one of my sites....then I write back...and never get a response....why the fuck even write if you don't plan on responding???

Before doing this, I was an inside sales rep for a small drum company and my territory was the entire US...I had to deal with retail store orders, finding new dealers, end user issues...ect...ect...plus I was doing alot of their marketing and graphics work...so I had alot of shit to do...and the only reason I was able to do it all well is that I didn't leave issues hanging...i.e... all phone calls and messages were answered, all emails were answered...ect ect....it's really not that hard....you just go down the list of emails for the day...AND FUCKIN ANSWER THEM...same with phone calls and any other issues...

I really just don't get it...keep in mind...I am SMALL time(but this is also my only source of income)...but really...one thing I have learned from any business is that you just don't know who the other person is or what they are capable of...so treat everyone the same...

That's it...

and now expect a list of affiliate reps saying they always answer stuff :)

Re-send it. That is what I would do, unless you see it as a sign that the program is not as great as it appears.

As far as your point, yes it is way more effective to open an email once and deal with it right then.

I agree completely and have had the exact same thing happen to me many times. I never understood it.

Could not agree more.
A reply to an email no matter how big or how small the affiliate is just good bizz.
It was not all that many years ago I was in your boat, and I have now make it a point not to do bizz with those who would not give me the time of day back when I started.

They are making an attempt to show you they care with their latest form letter.

:2 cents:

Hello <$affiliatename>.

I've been looking at <$affiliateurl> and think that our new site <$newsite> would do great with your <$newsiteniche> themed site.

AGAIN...!!!!!!please read the post!!!!...I get form letters all the time...I am talking when an affiliate manager sends a self written email....it's pretty easy to tell the difference when they are referencing specific banners on specific pages

I guess the last couple of responses are a symptom of another complaint I have with affiliate managers...read the email and/or post completely...then reply...it's really simple and you can save yourself so much work

I was busting your balls man.

Basically joking that they were tailoring their new replies, or e-mails, to look less like a standard reply and make it more personalized so you would think they care.

Sorry for the confusion ace.

well, i also love it when i got asked to put together quotes for program owners including samples etc. and never get a reply - not even a "no, thanks"

Sarah_Jayne 06-18-2009 06:40 AM

Well, I know if I don't reply then you somehow got sucked into a spam filter I haven't seen yet. So many mails sent like that go unanswered the other end too that people get used to not getting replies and maybe don't check to make sure things didn't get lost.
