Which Grindhouse did you like better?

Rose McGowan and her machine gun shootin' leg ftw.:ak47:

JC Maldini 06-17-2009 07:48 AM

I thought there was no competition..I'm a huge Kurt Russell fan, but how can you top scenes like Quintin Tarantino's nuts rotting off :)

ShellyCrash 06-17-2009 07:51 AM

I think Planet Terror was the better movie, but I liked Death Proof alot too. I think Grindhouse as a whole would have been a better product if they had collaborated more and had some continuity between the films. Rodriguez went very modern where Tarentino went very retro. Planet Terror is very fast paced where Death Proof is very slow (dialog overkill), following Planet Terror with Death Proof really killed Death Proof for alot of people.

That being said I still think Death Proof is a good movie. I really loved the concept of Grinhouse, I just think they fucked up on the execution.

I hope they really do make Machete, I keep hearing rumors. It will be awesome.

ShellyCrash 06-17-2009 07:54 AM

Does anyone remember the grindhouse ad we ran in AVN for Eroticy and Swappernet? I think it was my favorite ad I've ever worked on. :)

Slutboat 06-17-2009 07:55 AM

Definately Deathproof since I sold 2 of my 1969 Dodge Chargers to Tarentino for use in that film. I loved those cars so it was sad to see them get destroyed but I was stoked to see them imortalized in one of the greatest car chase scenes ever filmed.

AssPirate 06-17-2009 07:57 AM

I preferred the Thanksgiving trailer. Those decapitated heads reminded me of my teens. Sigh...

RRACY 06-17-2009 07:59 AM

I finally figured out who Josh Brolin is.:Oh crap What a character.:2 cents:

Ever seen "Wheels of Terror"? Early 70's charger plays the lead in that one. It's kind of like if "Duel" met "Christine".

RRACY 06-17-2009 08:10 AM

I saw Christine...it was very good.

I have to agree with you on everything, except Machete. I wouldn't want to see that.

Yea why DO you not believe this? Seems less probable that someone would bother making this claim in a porn webmaster forum if it wasn't true doesn't it. Anyway I can easily prove it if someone wants to throw some money on the table...

death proof was a horrible movie, planet terror was great.

Neon Dollars Daniel 06-17-2009 09:17 AM

Death Proof for me.

I liked the lapdance scene with loads of tension and the Russ Meyer tribute.

Got Porn? 06-17-2009 09:28 AM

Death Proof was ok, Planet Terror was awesome

How about perfect casting. Actors you at least recognized.

Rose was perfect...nuff said.
El Ray-That guy should have a future in films but I don't think Grindhouse will be another St. Elmos Fire.:1orglaugh
Michael Bien's a familiar face who was just convincing all round.
Jeff Fahey anyone.:pimp
Josh Brolin is the man to play in a remake of the Shining.
His blond wife was awesome when she destroyed her wrist in the door handle.:helpme
El Ray riding the mini cycle and Fahey saying "shame":1orglaugh

This movie was a little piece of brilliance.

Tempest 06-17-2009 10:40 AM

Hard to decide... Rose McGowan is damn hot but I think Zoe Bell (the aussie that rides the hood of the car) is the coolest stunt chick around..

Thats what I like about all of Tarrantino's movies, The diologue, its stupid, its witty, it strikes a chord with that random thought you once had and thought to yourself, who else has thoughts like this. his movies however campy, always some some sense of realism.

And that car chase scene with Uma Thurmans stunt double was great.

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 06-17-2009 01:32 PM

The trailers were pretty good too...

ADG

LadyMischief 06-17-2009 01:33 PM

I love both of them.

RayBonga 06-17-2009 01:35 PM

deathproof was the best of the two for me but planet terror was also pretty cool.

anyone knows if they are doing the machete movie? (the fake trailer in the grindhouse)

tranza 06-17-2009 01:39 PM

I'll watch and tell here... :D

Evil Chris 06-17-2009 01:42 PM

I thought they were both good, but Death Proof was more of an original story.

:1orglaugh:1orglaugh exactly what I was thinking but hey cool for you if you did

Death Proof for me cause I love fast car type movies but the other is good too

DivaShane 06-17-2009 01:51 PM

Death Proof all the way! That scene where they shoot Stuntman Mike and he falls apart like a little baby always makes me laugh.

According to the internet movie sources they are working on Machete. The release date is currently set for 2010 with Danny Trejo cast as the title character just like in the trailer. I hope it pans out. Rodriguez seems to be a bit more interested in doing the live action version of The Jetsons right now from what I've been reading.

I'll have to rent Wheels of Terror sometime but as passionate I am about '68 and '69 chargers I really don't like the '70 and later models, they really fucked up the body style in my opinion...The downfall of the American car started in '70 -RIP Chrystler

bronco67 06-17-2009 03:06 PM

I liked Planet Terror more, just because I hated the characters in Death proof, and actually cheered during the car accident. I couldn't stand those chicks, they got on my nerves, probably because QT has no idea how women talk to each other. After listening to 45 minutes of them blather on about pop culture bullshit and that stupid dare to do a lap dance, I was happy to see their bloody limbs flying through the air. The second group of girls annoyed me even more. Do we really needa 10 minute scene of two dummies arguing about playing "Captain's Mast"?

2MuchMark 06-17-2009 03:28 PM

I liked Deathproof better overall. Kurt Russel was so cool (and that smile at the camera made me Lol!).

There was something else going on in this movie. You KNOW what the story is about. You KNOW that Kurt's character is fucked up. You KNOW that the girls in the first part are going to die. When the car crash happens, you WANT it to happen (if it didn't, you would have been disapointed!). The crash is almost... orgasmic..!

The dialog goes a long way too into making these characters believeable. You KNOW these people...

I like Josh Brolin's character and acting in Planet Terror. Robert Rodriguez did a fine job of directing it, but there there were problems with it. The Blood looked fake, and they didn't go nearly far enough on the gore. (Remember George Romero's Dawn of the Dead? The blood still looked fake but WOW was the Gore cool!). I didn't give a damn about any of the characters. None of the actors (except for Quinten) had any FUN making this movie. Where were the jokes?

The fake trailers were ALL GREAT, and I would love to go see feature length versions of all of them.

CDSmith 06-17-2009 03:37 PM

Both movies stand up on their own merits, so it's really hard for me to choose one over the other.

So I'm going to say "fuck you" to choosing and just say both.

And am looking foward to any new ones of this ilk coming down the pike.

Gausche 06-17-2009 03:43 PM

Planet Terror without a doubt. Watching the lovely Rose McGowan use a machine gun as a leg was brilliant.

Rodriguez sounds like he is fucking up lately. I heard he was producing remakes of both Red Sonja and Barbarella and putting Rose MacGowan in the lead for both movies. Red Sonja I think they've paused and the studio put the breaks on Barbarella and told him he needed to use Jessica Alba or they were shutting the project down. Haven't heard anything about barbarella since so I think that got keboshed.

I'm all about 60's GM muscle cars myself, have a 67 Skylark GS in the garage so i'm partial. There are only a few muscle cars that I think were interesting post 70, the Riviera Boat tails are pretty slick, but I agree with you.

I think for Wheels of Terror they used a 71 or 72, where they had the post in the center of the grille, and did a little custom welding:

http://www.imcdb.org/images/014/167.jpg

Just read something that said it was a 74. Either way, not somethign I would have in my garage, but still a movie car I can appreciate.

That Skylark is a sweet machine too, lucky you! Yea that looks like a 70 or 71 charger from the grill, they made it look a little meaner though by bringing it together in the center, that movie looks like a must rent. One thing QT understands is that cars are characters and he puts a lot of thought into casting vehicles as if they ate supporting actors.

SykkBoy 06-18-2009 11:27 AM

Planet Terror by a slight edge but loved both of them
As a huge fan of Grindhouse Cinema, I loved all the nods and tributes. Every time I watch each segment, I find more and more that I missed.

The trailers were entertaining as hell too

As for Machete:

vidvicious 06-18-2009 03:22 PM

I got death proof on the shelves .. however keeping my eyes out for Planet terror .. my fav of the two .. hot chicks, guns, zombies and a kick ass gravy what more can you ask for

Bojangles 06-18-2009 06:09 PM

I enjoyed both. I hope they do Machete. Danny Trejo is bad ass.

FilthyRob 06-18-2009 06:16 PM

Both seriously rocked, but I am drawn to Zombie or at least all fucked up what ever the fuck they were in Planet Terror.

Owner 06-19-2009 01:52 AM

Planet Terror ftw

Thanks Man. I've had her since I was 20. She's still a primer beast, but finally coming together. The body's pretty straight, I'm working on putting in the third engine now, but the real challenge has been the interior. When I got the car the interior had pretty much been ripped out. Year One catalog helps, but 67 wasn't a real pop year so I've spent alot of time working with junk yards trying to find stuff, like pillar post moldings- what a bitch to get those, ha ha.
