I don't know, but anyone can be stopped and/or shut-down. Just ask James Grady. He brought down 2 of the biggest piracy boards around with some basic detective work, good lawyers, and a LOT of determination.

not a fan of James Grady's but I give him credit for this one - we should band together and start an industry vigilante group and take down these forums one by one - by any means available.

Doesn't look like a big boards(according to archive and alexa),it looks like they were ripping off that guy entire content and that is why he was determined to shut down them no matter what cost it is.

True, maybe I should've said "two big" and not "two of the biggest". There are certainly many others that are bigger. However, WP-Board and WorldPlagiates were stealing TONS of content from LOTS of shooters, sites, models, etc., not just James.

Luke Lirot is not an inexpensive attorney from what I understand. I wonder what this guy spent on legal fees, a private detective and other costs to be able to afford this whole operation.

I have no doubt he spent a boatload of money but thats how it starts and the more you win the easier it gets to win and it snowballs.

when lensman left the guys here alone to play... they came up with the best scheme. start threads as if you are the site owner... then tell everyone how the site is "bulletproof" and no one can do anything about it and you're gonna steal everyones content and post it and there is nothing one can do about it. it took a couple hours for his site to be down for good.... rip-productions.com was it?

Yes people, this is the exact thing that would help win a suit against tube sites. You know, the one you all keep saying would never work? Guess what, you cannot go give shit away for free right next to a company that sells the same item. While giving things away for free is legal, giving things away that damage another business so you can eventually charge for them is not.

these guys have been going strong for a long time and have been talked about here for a long time too.... they go through stages where they are more discrete for a week or two here and there but overall they don't seem too worried about any need to change their business model

Once you've paid a lawyer and you have the paperwork in hand, you can do this stuff yourself like he is doing now. I wish more programs would at least attempt this before they say courts are a waste of time.

I go on there once a week to report all the videos from the sponsors I push. I've had 1000s of files removed, (mainly topbucks videos) bet the uploaders bang their heads on keyboards because of me. They spend hours uploading gigabytes of videos, in 30 seconds I pull up the print view of megathreads, gather all the links using Jdownloader and send an email to rapidshare or hotfile. BAM. :)

Technically RS and HF claim they won't remove videos unless you can prove you're the copyright owner, but they just do that to deter thousands of complaints. They ALWAYS remove files I report.
