I could care less who runs Iran, but it's pretty clear that Ahmadinejad rigged the election. And it's not like Ahmadinejad is popular in Iran these days.

What amazes me is he has the balls to shut down cell phone texts and entire portions of the Internet. Could you imagine if that happened here in the US?

I read a few months back that Iran has a higher percentage of people in its population under the age of 30 than any other country in the world. Many of these younger people are more western minded and more moderate. They want to change that country and it just might be happening.

following this closely. will be interesting to see how this turns with each day.

Honestly, THAT is what we need in the USA to get our country back. Take the streets, stand up, fight, tear the place upside down until the government is FOR THE PEOPLE BY THE PEOPLE once again.

I left the USA because I no longer believe in it. If there was a revolution, I would proudly be part of it.

I have an American passport. They OWN me, regardless of where I live in the world. I am still American even though I don't live there or believe in the current system.

yeah, it's very interesting indeed. when you have that many people on the streets, multiply that many a couple more times for those who are on the same side but doesnt show up on the street.

1) Do you have ANY idea who difficult it is to get a new passport somewhere? No, it's not impossible, and I may do it someday, but it is a process that I am unable to do at this time. I'm locked down working in Asia for a few more years before I can do such a thing. But even then, I would not renounce your citizenship. See #2 for why I would not.

2) I still have family there. I'd rather not have to apply for a visa, and maybe get denied, if I had to return home to visit my family, go to a funeral or visit someone who was ill. Perhaps if I had nobody left there, I would have no need to return.

i really hope no one believes this is nothing more than a stage managed "regime change" by political proxy.

I don't think it can be much more than that even if they honored the vote since the actual running of the country goes to the Supreme Ruler (The Ayatollah, a religious fanatic) and not the President who this voting is all about.

I don't want to make light of it, but much more concentration should be going to this North Korea thing, and actually we should be putting it on China. They are probably going to get the brunt of it when the launch pads don't work and the missle takes out North Korea and the winds take the radiation into China.
