Hotel tip?
How much 5% is that ok? this is a big hotel bill for a week and not exaclty keen on leaving $500.
|
People tip hotels?
|
I guess when it is this level. You do. how sucky is that. And we had two countesses and a lady here. I bet they tip well.

Shit gets more bizarre by the day...
|
I think it depends on how you leave the room, but not sure...
|
I leave a $20 for the maid. Not really sure I'd do it as a % of the bill like at a restaurant.

Tip based on the service. If the room was clean every day with fresh sheets and every thing was perfect. then 10$ a day is nice.

You are in the UK, not the USA...
In the UK, people dont really tip. Its not 'Normal' and can actually be looked down on! In the USA as you know, its normal, and expected... But in the UK... Its not... |
$500 ?
who are you planing to leave this tip to? the maid? :1orglaugh |
If I were at the Bellagio or the Venitian in Vegas and I had a pimp suite and the lady had to clean up my dirty clothes, left over food wrappers and crap on the tables, etc... $5 to $10 a day... Especially if I didn't get lucky and nutted on the towels... or did get lucky and nutted on the towels...
If I am at something less extravagant for some strange reason I might do $20 for several days... Shitty part is the girl getting it might not be the same one that had been cleaning it on the first 4 days... If I trashed the room with a party I might do $50 and leave some joints behind in a drawer... She can sell them if she doesn't smoke or trade them in the hotel workers black market or smoke em if she likes to smoke. |
I agree - most people don't usually leave a percentage like you would in a restaurant, but the $5-$10/day rule is a good one for a nice hotel. For a regular chain hotel, leaving $10 for a few days' stay is probably fine.
You could probably read up on the tipping rules for whatever country you're traveling to, as well. When I lived in England, people often tipped only 10% at restaurants (or less) and the Japanese often don't tip at all unless they are in America and made aware of the fact that tips are NOT included...my extended family had to be made aware of this when they were visiting. Anyway, tip based on the service you're getting! It's not exactly required but it shows appreciation and a certain level of class on your part. |
5$-10$ is norm
