I guess Dana White is all about the money. He was pretty vocal about thinking Kimbo had no real skills and was just a thug when he fought for the EliteXC.

One thing is for sure...the ratings this season are gonna be huge. Kimbo Slice has huge name recognition especially after all that exposure on that now defunct MMA organization that ran on CBS last year. Everybody is gonna be interested in what happens with him on UFC. Kudos to Dana White and Kimbo Slice for turning a little real life heat into a captivating storyline.

Kimbo can fight. The Ultimate fighter will be hi perfect level. I think he will do well and have a decent career from here on.

But to headline any MMA PPV? He Was never that level. I know Kimbo and he is a great guy, never acts tough and very humble. It was the people around him that put him into all of this marketing shit and made him look bad.

He has been training with Bas Ruttan for about 3 years already. He is now a pretty serious athlete. He is gonna do fine and way better than people are expecting.:2 cents:

I think Kimbo has potential to win a fight or two on the show, if his conditioning is up to par. Doesn't matter how hard he hits- if he gets easily tired in the cage against guys who aren't as tired and can out wrestle him, he is going to have a real hard time. It will be entertaining for sure. Is he still training with Bas? I thought they announced that he wasn't working with Bas anymore months ago?

Last I heard, Bas no longer trains him and said he would never train him again.

Great to see Kimbo back in it!

I also wish Dana would bring some of the women fighters to the UFC. Gina Carano is the shit.

This is actually why he is one the show. Dana White said he cannot fight in UFC unless he earns it. He has to win the show to fight in the UFC.

Adam_M 06-11-2009 04:49 PM

Can't wait for the show to start!

AAB 06-11-2009 04:56 PM

As a fighter, he's completely and utterly useless.

It was the other way around, Kimbo rushed Petruzelli and ate a jab, which was the punch that put him face down on the canvas. That is why I have a hard time believing that Kimbo will ever succeed in MMA, because he is lacking the one thing you can never teach, a chin. The new breed of heavyweights in the UFC are all giants that hit like trucks, so if a 205 pounder KO'd him with a jab I shudder to think what will happen if he gets hit by a Shane Carwin or a Cain Velasquez. I'd love to see Kimbo succeed, but the cards are majorly stacked against him...

PornAddict 06-11-2009 05:23 PM

Anyone know if they're reverting back to the old way of doing things (ie... not having to fight to get into the house)? I heard a rumor that for the next season (with Kimbo), the fighters won't fight to get on the show.

I figured it was because that heavyweights take more of a beating and injuries would probably skyrocket right from the jump.

Should be interesting to say the least

Nicky 06-11-2009 05:29 PM

It's gonna be fun to watch but I would'nt place any money on Kimbo as winner. (unless you really know someone).

I read the same thing, that they weren't going to have to fight to get into the house. I'm guessing that is for one of two reasons...

1) To keep Kimbo from losing and never actually making it into the house, which would kill this season's ratings. Not saying he would lose, but why even take that chance when you know he will bring in big ratings.

2) Because there just aren't enough quality heavyweight prospects to account for 32 fighters. There is a reason the UFC heavyweight division lacked depth until recently, good heavyweights are hard to come by...

Mutt 06-11-2009 06:06 PM

what exactly is the Ultimate Fighter? It's a seperate series where up and comers fight - like a minor/development league for UFC?

It's a TV reality show where the winner get's an UFC contract.

edit: Sounded so much better like u said it but that's 10 years from now.

Steve OSS 06-11-2009 06:59 PM

I'd like to see Kimbo bounce back...This will most likely be his last shot to do something big in his career. Either way I think people will always watch a Kimbo fight regardless how disappointed they might be...
