Typically, only the Chinese government has the power to screw the little guy like that. The Chinese government has confiscated large numbers of homes and is extremely corrupt.

Canada has a history of it as well - expropriation.

All the property along the Niagara River from Lake Erie to north of Queenston Heights was expropriated by the Province of Ontario and designated as greenbelt park lands - governed by NRPC (Niagara Region Parks Commission).

They are doing that around where I live to this row of houses along a stretch of a 1 lane road. The road is being expanded to have a turning lane and they state/county went to buy the houses that would be effected.

I read in the paper that a lot of the people were offered a lot less than what they owe and they couldnt afford to sell. I cant blame them, but what sucks is when they are going to walk out of their front door and have a main road within 6 inches of their door step

canada does that to people all the time

hell they do it and give you what they think is fair value....sometimes they do it to people...and then allow the loand to be sold to private owners wonderful

like the 407 for instance

That would really suck if they offered you less than you owe on your property. That doesn't seem fair at all.

the house next to mine.. "now a model home" cannot be sold cause the back yard is too small and the lady that owns the land behind us will not sell it.. they need something like 2feet x 20feet wide only..
