A REAL GOOD adult hosting company?
 

Im getting tired of webhosting companies that charge too much, but are weak in security programs that block abusers and hackers etc..
Also, they all seem to lack in a good stats program where you can see all your users' bandwidth usage in a good organized and readable fashion.

Our site totes the fact that we push quality content and great customer service, but we cant get it out of the people who host our servers. Im sorry, but that just doesnt work for us.

So anyone recommend a hosting company that really has got it together? (with reasonable prices on bandwidth per GB)

I started a thread about them. Seems like a good host. Do a search on here and you won't find much negative either.
I'm fed up with downtime at my current host. I'm trying isprime shortly.

yeah funny that you say and i have been hearing good things about ISPrime all day today.... we will give them a shot for a bit but we had problems with the other guys. wont go into that but it just was not a good situation.

our site is a bandwidth heavy site; but right now we have no good program to see members bandwidth usage.

Sites been up with isprime only 2 days and already abuse by one member has been caught. But that was caught by looking at a list of 100s of usernames listing 100s of numbers in a disorganized fashion. If one is to do this daily, it woudl be a job 24/7. Isprimecop and the analog stats hasnt done beans to help.

I dont even have a simple list showing how much bandwidth is used by the server per day....

Just to play the devil's advocate here, but isn't your site's security your own business? If there's a hole in your shopping cart system, then you can hardly blame the host for that?

lol im talking about members access, the security program eg. I-protect is supposed to stop brute hacking and password abuse.

My bad - I had it in my head that your were a content provider.

I was never aware that ISPrime had their own brute-force protection (I assume this is what you're talking about).

Thats what I meant -- but it does not work it seems. I will talk to them tomorrow, but already 4x the bandwidth usage from normal in one day thanks to the abusers who have free reign.

I assumed a hosting company supporting a bandwidth heavy adult site would have these things as default.

Why would a hosting company offer you something that would limit the ammount of bandwidth they could sell to you? IMO it's your responsibility as a webmaster to purchase software (Pennywise, Proxy-Pass, etc) to protect your members area. I'm sure most hosts offer assistance setting things like that up, but I fail to grasp your assumption. However, you might be surprised what some hosts will do for you are really "bandwidth heavy", which I will assume means over 20mbit/s.

Why don't more webmasters move to Content Distribution Networks (CDNs). You pay about the same for transfer but you don't have to worry about maintaing boxes or security because they maintain them for you. They also offer all kinds of cool stats tools, and report generation.

Really good deals on bandwidth. College Fuck Fest hosts with them. They don't have a super pretty web page or a huge internext booth but they know what they are doing. They have a solid network with several gb/s of sustained usage. Its like a pizza joint in New York. If the outside looks crappy the pizza must be great ;)

i used to be with sex tracker, great host and kathi is great to deal with. but it was overkill for me, i only run free sites. only free sites i'd put on there would be tgp sites. good to pay the extra to make sure your site stays up so your trades don't run away.

Is this a joke? How can you say best in the biz? If it's not meant as a joke, your word is now a joke to me. Obviously cologroup is not one of the better hosts out there. Even if your server has been fine, what, do you think everyone else is lying? No matter how stupid you feel for referring people there, it doesn't change the facts.


I don't understand why some people on GFY think cologroup and like whoa are the only options. Instead of picking a host based on how often their reps post here or how much ad space they buy, do the opposite. Look for hosts that have major clients, and get their business based on providing a great service instead of great marketing and big booths at wm shows.

I switched to datahosters a couple of months ago and I'm very happy with them. Low priced 1st tier bw, no downtime, and my sites & galleries are much faster now I'm off Cogent.

BTW for anyone crying about expensive bandwitdh, the last one I mentioned, techiemedia.com, has bandwidth as cheap or cheaper than cologroup. I've never used them myself, but I know people who are and they're good. It's where sextracker is hosted. The other two I mentioned are IMO the two best hosts on the planet.

I pump a shitload of bandwidth through WEBAIR. (http://www.webair.com) they set me up in like 20 minutes, and I have never had a support request that took longer than like 4 hours, and that was like at 3am on a weekend! I really dig the guys there and trust them with ALL my trafic. I'm beating 300GB a day sometimes and my server is NEVER down. gotta love em!

Amen. www.webair.com has ALWAYS come through for me. I have a couple boxes there doing big BW, never down. On the couple occasions when I needed support (regarding changes to config, whatever) they are prompt, and they are correct. Fast support doesn't do anyone any good if they are morons. webair has it right.

I'm with Webair, as well. I've been with them since 1999 and I have never had an issue. Support is great and always quick on anything I ask for.

I just moved practically my entire network of sites over to them, recently and I couldn't be happier.

I think it's defintely worth the click to check them out.
