What's a good handheld HD video camera?

My JVC that I've had for over ten years is finally starting to fuck up....I don't buy new shit unless something breaks so now I have an excuse to upgrade...

I want either a HD camera or a good video camera that records straight to a DVD disc or even better, a flash drive.......I prefer Sony's...

Any tips?

Never used Sony, I love the Canon HV 30, shoots amazing HD, CMOS 3.1 megapixel for about 700 on ebay, they were 1100 a pop last year.

~2cents

Bingo! http://bingocameras.com/shop/product...oducts_id=1364 <-- $439

Buy extra batteries... you only get 30-45 minutes out of the battery that comes with the camera. These use MiniDV but It is compatible with almost every software package and has a firewire interface.

I've got the Sony HDR-HC5. It's a year or so old, but I have no complaints. My parents and sister in law both have the same model and love it too.

Jeez, video cameras are like computers these days as far as price depreciation

If your hand doesn't shake like a fat chicks ass, try JVC GZ-HD7

Been using it for 6 months and it works great

1080i 60Gb hdd, manual focus rings, cool hood and surprisingly good sound from built in mic, as well as a shoe and line-in/out/hdmi

What's your budget?
We have a 2 cannon & 2 sony hd video cams in the office that we only use for coping tapes. I believe they run around $700/$800 each about 2 years ago. Not sure on the model # but can check when go into office on monday.

Might not be TRUE HD, but anyone used the little HD camera? Like this one.

Canon Vixia 8.0mp hd. If you have $1,200 to spend on a camera, i suggest you go for it. Its a great buy!

My mom has a little Kodak Zi6 and the video quality is pretty impressive for a little sub $200 pocket video camera.
