Music in amateur videos - copyright?
I have a quick question, i've seen a lot of amateur videos over the years, and it seems more often than not, girls are playing some type of music in it and dancing around doing their shit. Well, isn't that a form of copyright violation? I'm going to be shooting some vids and I don't want lawyers knocking at my door telling me I have to pay all types of back fees for violations.
Thanks! |
Technically using it in an amateur video might be viewed an infringement, but mostly it comes down to if you're usin' it to make money or not.

ask yourself why Youtube is paying millions to record companies
yes, it is illegal if you sell those clips |
youtube is totally exempt from the law and can do anything it wants

There was a court case last year I believe involving this issue in regards to some woman, a dancing baby, and a artist/record company suing her. She won.

If you dont own the copyright or have written permission to use the work you are responsible for $150,000 judgement per infringement. Plain and simple.
