Did google just lose it?

Starting about 1 hour ago I noticed strange results in google... HEAVILY ranked shit videos, break, youtube, etc. are inundating the pages.

Did a search and found this article...

http://news.cnet.com/8301-1023_3-10242104-93.html

The change was to occur today and low and behold... today the results are way out there. Not for the good!!

Anyone notice this with their searches or existing rankings?

st0ned 06-01-2009 07:24 AM

I just checked a couple and everything still seems the same on my end.

Jack Sparrow 06-01-2009 07:30 AM

Not seeing it either, but wasnt youtube pushed uptop since google had shares?

rowan 06-01-2009 07:52 AM

That article is about paid advertisements, why would that affect organic results?

Iron Fist 06-01-2009 07:58 AM

Has nothing to do with organic search... this is all adwords trademark crap. So now I can advertise in AdWords and use a trademark name when I advertise. Yawn.

Don't think it should but was the only change I found specific to starting this month.

There are a ton of articles out there about significant changes occuring last month, etc.

My question was not intended to focus too much on the article. Just if others have noticed strange, irrelevant results showing on their searches just recently? So far that is not the case...

brassmonkey 06-01-2009 10:35 AM

nope nothing

Elixir 06-01-2009 01:23 PM

There are some changes!!! I notice something .... hmm

Agent 488 06-01-2009 01:32 PM

something big is definately going on with goog today.

Ace_luffy 06-01-2009 01:34 PM

not sure

mmcfadden 06-01-2009 05:48 PM

the site I was checking google position on was jumping around like a pinball today... it seems to have stopped and resettled in it's original position now.

I know lots of changes were implemented last month to try and prevent black hat techniques...

If anything it would be them in response to the Bing launch, but I have no idea what that would entail. If Bing is borrowing from Google results like some are saying, perhaps they're crapping their own results up so that everyone trying Bing for the first time sees crap results and goes back to blindly using Google.

so they come back to crap google results? that makes no sense.

stick with the simple: just a bigger algo move than usual.

mmcfadden 06-02-2009 07:22 PM

still shuffling... anybody else notice?

Agent 488 06-02-2009 07:34 PM

of course those with no real rankings feel free to pontificate as usual.

dav3 06-19-2009 10:35 PM

My google bounce rates are much higher (+18% and up) than bing and yahoo. Has anyone else noticed this?

Is google at the point where they are over optimizing?
