Golfers

Finland sucks. We only have like 5 months/year when the courses are in even remotely playable condition. Well, shit happens.. anyhow I just have a few questions about the rest of the world.

- How much is an average greenfee where you're located at?
35-70€ here depending on course + day

- Do you have 'yearly' memberships to courses with unlimited plays there, how much are those?
I paid 85€ for my membership + €600 eur for unlimited rounds at a certain club

- Do you upgrade your gear (drivers mostly) on a yearly basis?
Nope, I still play with the gear I bought in 2006

- What's your handicap?
20.6

- What's your average round score?
95 ish

- From which tee do you play
I play from yellow. I think US tee colors are different than ours though.
red = easiest (women's tee)
blue = mid
yellow = (men's tee)
White = backtee/pro's

Then a few pics I've taken this year just to liven things up a bit.

First round in April

Artsy pic from the same round

..and the view from 18th tee on the course I have 'yearly membership' this year.

I hate weekends, the courses are PACKED. That's why I'm typing this instead of playing. I'll go again on monday ;)

im addicted to golf.

i shoot under 100 usually now

best game ever was 90...so i think ill break 90 this year

i try to go out 1-2 times per week...and i love hitting the driving range as well for practice

Jakke PNG 05-30-2009 07:16 AM

My best round ever was 88 (but on a par 70).

I was at my wife's family reunionion golf-contest-thingy a few weekends back. I played my best round ever on a par 72 (90) and won the whole thing, which was nice. :D

:)

ive had a few rounds under 90 but they were also at places where par was 69 or 70

so they dont count.

you know...you can mishit your ball..it goes all the way to the next hole...but when you find it..you can still hit straight at your hole..lol

those courses dont count...but they are good for practice

im playing mid level courses now...not too hard not too easy.

if we are ever in the same town again...we should play..as it seems we are about the same level :)

The next webmaster event I go to (if I ever choose to go to one again), will be one which will allow me to beat every other webmaster at golf ;)

Umm, thanks? How did you imagine me?
Having just 1 eye and a piratehat and wearing a french maids uniform, what?

- How much is an average greenfee where you're located at?
40-75 for normal Public Courses

- Do you have 'yearly' memberships to courses with unlimited plays there, how much are those?
It ranges, out of the city in smaller towns I've seen memberships for 800 bucks, but there are also course like Vancouver Golf Club, which membership plus maintenance fees will put you above the 40K+ mark to join.

- Do you upgrade your gear (drivers mostly) on a yearly basis?
Naw, still have my same Cleveland launcher driver about 8 years now, (only changed the shaft once) Just havent got use to the look of the new "square" head drivers. Irons are forged Taylor made TP's, their top of the line about 2 years ago. Don't need to change those any time soon, only need to get the degree of clubs checked once a year because forged is quiet soft, clubs often will need to get bent back to proper angle.

- What's your handicap?
4.4
- What's your average round score?
76ish

- From which tee do you play
Ours usually go, red - white - blue - black, I try and play black always, usually depends who i play with, most time they want to play blues.

Just started playing last summer and am fully addicted. I get out at least 2 times a week, but more often then I should I go 4 times a week :helpme.

- How much is an average greenfee where you're located at?
30-50 for decent public courses. Since its a college town a few of the courses will have student discounts where you can save around $4.

- Do you have 'yearly' memberships to courses with unlimited plays there, how much are those?
There are a few decent courses that have memberships for around 700, this doesn't include a cart though. But there are also a few that I imagine are easily a couple Gs a year.

- Do you upgrade your gear (drivers mostly) on a yearly basis?
Since I just started last summer I bought all new gear. A used set of Nike OSS slingshot irons, Nike 3 hybrid and the Nike Sumo driver. Roommate just bought a new set of Callaway Fusion Wide Soles, makes me really want to buy new clubs even though my slingshots are just fine, I just like new shit.

- What's your handicap?
Never had it officially calculated. I would imagine it would be low 20s.
- What's your average round score?
90

- From which tee do you play
Colors always seem to be a bit different, but usually we are playing whites (standard mens, second to last).

If any of you Kalamazoo, MI people golf we should get togethor and play a round! Some decent courses around here, I really like Angels Crossing and the Gull Lake View courses.

I have those. I love 'em. They're very very easy to play with. :)

bushwacker 05-30-2009 08:46 AM

I love golf, during the summer months a round of golf will run you about $25. In season it is triple that price. I usually shoot in the mid 80's, and I haven't upgraded my clubs in years. Remember kids "its not the arrows it's the indian".

Phoenix 05-30-2009 09:05 AM

also if you arent playing from the back....tips

then your score doesnt really count either ;)

I'm the worst golfer in the foursome that I play with. Two of the guys have played on the smaller pro tours.
