You would sales people want to sell right?

Ive been contacting this car dealership for about a week now to buy a car they got in. I talked to the guy last Thursday and he said he would give me a call Friday... I had to call him back on Tuesday.

He said the car would be ready to go Friday morning and would call me at the end of the day Thursday to let me know for sure before I drive two hours to pick it up... Now its the end of the day and I call the dealership and hes left go to home.

Im not even trying to work this guy or be a dick, I just want to buy the car. Odd thing is its one of the most expensive cars on their lot, so you think he would jump at wanting to sell it. I called and spoke to someone else and they said they would have someone call me back about it this weekend. I told them Im supposed to come pick it up tomorrow and they go "oh really? uhh, not sure what to say then." WTF?!?!?

Honestly, this is retarded and its not only this dealership. I called a local BMW dealership last Wednesday and also sent them an email. They FINALLY called me back last night... a week later! Then the guy was pissy with me because I said I had already found another car and wasted his time by saying "well thanks for letting me know before I called you that you were interested." Eat dick pal, I called you over a week ago, follow up in reasonable time!

You would think in a slow economy they would be jumping to sell cars, but I guess not.

I don't think you can edit the thread title so let me add: expect =]

Yeah I hate it when you just want to purchase something and the dude is out to lunch, busy, on the phone etc. Motorcycle shops can be bad for this if you don't get a contact that is decent.

No one cares anymore about anything. Employees are terrible and don't give a fuck at all.

Sounds like your salesperson was taking his commission for granted - bad for him.

I'd have done the same thing you did - give him reasonable time to get delivery of the car or go elsewhere. Specially with a big ticket item.

Makes you wonder how many sales he loses because of his careless approach.

I've had multiple instances where I could not get salesmen to sell me exactly what I wanted either. It's truly the most bizarre thing in the world. I really don't get people.

I will never go back to the dealership that I bought my van from and I will advise others of the same. It's a specialty dealership as well, so their loss.

You can understand the employee's apathy in a non commissioned emvironment but in a car dealership, you would expect a prospect to at least be called back.

However, you may find that getting off your ass and going there would get you better service....few people atually buy cars over the phone do they?

we have actually purchased 2 cars over the phone.

BUt I do believe he said its a 2 hour drive and the main reason he was doing it by phone so as to NOT waste 4 hours.

Email the manager directly with what you want, and what you're willing to pay. If you've done your homework online, you should know what the real price is already. Make that clear. Cut out all the useless sales douchebags, they're just there to play games and waste your time, talking the ignorant into bad deals, while adding their commissions onto your price. I just bought a new car via email, and didn't spend more than a few minutes inside the dealership picking up and signing; no haggling, no BS. I suggest emailing instead of calling, because they know that customers coming to them online are better researched.
