How long does it take for the last .75 cents of gas to pump..

in your area or country.

I paid for 20 bucks. The first $19.25 went in in about 2 minutes. Then the pump takes 1 minute to pur in the last .75. Many a time have I said Fuck it, I'm cold, wet, tired, late..knowing very well that I am being ripped off.

They say it's a safty issue..BULLSHIT.

NY and FL

my gas pumper hasnt said anything about this.. weird :??:

d-null 05-24-2009 01:38 AM

pisses me off too

why can't they just make it the last ten cents?

DeadFidel 05-24-2009 04:16 AM

They can. They change it. They make it S l o w er in bad weather.

Tell me that can't design a pump that would fix that? Please it's so blatent that it goes unnoticed

Tube Ace 05-24-2009 07:03 AM

don't prepay :)

alias 05-24-2009 07:09 AM

Haha must be some new school pumps and bored attendants for them to slow it down in bad weather, are you sure it isn't just the pump reacting to environmental conditions?

Its called the "Gore Pump Law", by making it take an extra 1 minute it will make people drive one minute less in turn saving over 18,000,000 driving a miles a year and reducing green gas and carbon emissions by 12% a year, this alone will save the main glacier in Antarctica from melting and will in turn make people rethink the environment and the importance of saving it.

No it has nothing to do with the weather. Here in NY if you pre-pay the pump slows down a good .75 prior to meeting the target price.

Even if you don't prepay and you hit the auth limit on a card or gallon threshold for a special promo the last buck pumps very slow.

I am not sure how they say its for safety when you just pump without prepaying. The pump acts normally then. I think its more of an issue with them not wanting the pump to go over prepaid amounts by accident. Who knows.

Sucks for you guys, I can pump until $0.001 before my target price and let go and the damn thing stops exactly on what I want.

BlackCrayon 05-24-2009 12:14 PM

i never prepay unless i have to. often times its more of a hassle than walking in depending on what company it is.

After Shock Media 05-24-2009 12:30 PM

Holy shit are you all in that much of a hurry?
I will take notice next time but I can not honestly say I have ever noticed this.

TidalWave 05-24-2009 12:41 PM

in the rare times that i do have to pre-pay, ive noticed that slow shit too but have never left. not going to let them screw me out of my hard earned money.

Doesnt anyone have a window to clean, tire pressure to check, trash to throw away, or anything?

I'm not sure what its like in the states but around here most pumps have disabled the feature that keeps the pump if you remove your hand.

Nope we can lock the pump and walk away.

Well I can not walk away and me getting gas is another story which makes this whole whining issue about possibly waiting an extra 30 seconds or something hysterical.

Spunky 05-24-2009 01:45 PM

The pump is programmed to run in a slower mode for safety sake
