What is your favourite video editing and encoding software?
 

I just got a shitload of raw avi vids that I need to edit / encode and I wonder what your software of choice is. I dont need too much fancy functions just basic and to the point.

by edit without fancy functions I'm guessing you mean the slicing, merging and doing simple transitions ...
Sony Vegas is very easy to use and if you need a script for batch encoding hit me up.

yeah it's more advanced editing tool but it's easy to use.

If you need cheap solution and only slicing, encoding why not use virtualdub, video splitter of some kind to get the clips and encode with free soft like Super ?

that's even better solution then encoding with vegas but you can't do the transitions and stuff.
