If he fucks up on one note he can expect a caning from his father.

qxm 05-21-2009 05:06 PM

oohhh shit!!! thats some real talent right thur...simply awesome :)

Spunky 05-21-2009 05:10 PM

Wow,he's impressive

d-null 05-21-2009 05:21 PM

sure, he can play somebody else's compositions with perfect precision

but playing like a cyborg isn't what matters when it comes to music and performance...

as teenagers these guys did more for music and will live on in history and it doesn't matter if they missed a note or three along the way:

(vid poor quality but this is historic)

Dude, he just didn't play someone else's simply composition, he played the guitar AND the vocal melody AND the harmony to the vocal melody.

That KID has skills and he doesn't have to run around a stage swinging the guitar around his neck to prove it. Sometimes a "performance" doesn't have to be crazy or energetic to be moving. I suppose you've never been to a ballet, opera, play or a Spanish guitar performance?

BTW, your video won't load for me. :Oh crap

Rick Diculous 05-21-2009 06:47 PM

This is pretty amazing!! This kid looks like he's 10 years old

Check many of his other videos or just do a google search for Sungha Jung.

child prodigies are freaky. not sure how many fulfill their potential - my guess would be not many.

HandballJim 05-21-2009 07:15 PM

My favorite is this Japanese kid named Yuto Miyazawa

https://youtube.com/watch?v=qizRvpYHmrw

Nicky 05-21-2009 07:31 PM

He is really good. I'd really like to see him try do some own stuff though, but playing the vocal line along with the harmony is fucking awesome.

Nicky 05-21-2009 07:37 PM

I really like this one

bronco67 05-21-2009 07:40 PM

Is he playing rythym and lead together? I call shenanigans!

CunningStunt 05-21-2009 07:54 PM

Technically very difficult to play that.

Nice work one hung lo.

Sebastian Sands 05-21-2009 08:03 PM

I play bass (have for years) and there are people on youtube that make me want to smash my basses..

Search for a chick named Lydia, she plays this song "Free" from Marcus Miller and she sings it too.. Nice big tits and sings and plays bass like no other. i think she is from Holland

candyflip 05-21-2009 08:15 PM

I like this one, same kid:

very serious, guaranteed if you asked many of the great bands of the last decade or two, they would answer affirmative to Minor Threat being an influence.... bands like Nirvana and Metallica and Red Hot Chili Peppers etc etc etc etc.

here is an interesting list of just a few examples someone put together, and of course the secondary influences and co-influences are numerable:

Bands that were influenced by minor threat
-Pearl jam
-rage against the machine
-janes addiction
-Public enemy
-Red hot Chili peppers
-Beastie Boys
-bad religion
-Slayer
-Metallica
-etc...

I didn't see anything special in that video than the original from JerryC, or more spectacular ones from Gustavo Guera etc.

A few of those bands claim to have been influenced by KISS too. What's your point? :winkwink:

Near zero. The kind of rigid discipline, rules and practice it takes to develop by that age and be able to play perfectly will completely stunt your ability to create music further down the road.

Paco De Lucia is one I can think of, but I wouldn't say he was a child prodigy persay he's just lucky his father was a guitar teacher. And at that age he was playing circles around this kid.

Guess it doesn't count for much this day in age anyway because all the ignoramuses can't have a youtube stroke-a-thon to it.

nation-x 05-22-2009 07:29 AM

He is good but his timing is fucked.

WebairGerard 05-22-2009 07:43 AM

very talented especially for such a young player. has a bright future ahead of him.

I don't think it is fair to blame all that crappy music on just one influence. They likely listed to plenty of terrible bands to help them suck so much themselves. I can certainly understand why they all make such unlistenable crap if they spent all their formative years listening to such unlistenable crap.

If they had been influenced by Miles Davis and John McLaughlin perhaps they would play actual music. Who knows? :)

That may be true in many cases but true musical geniuses are able to combine artistic creativity with rigid discipline to create true greatness.

Major (Tom) 05-23-2009 02:44 AM

that song really isnt that hard to play. just a random guess here, but he's probally forced to play that darn thing 12 hours a day. there is a song called suspension by nino ferrari or something like that. now that is talent.

SmokeyTheBear 05-23-2009 08:37 AM

i was expecting to see another asian playing technically perfect guitar with zero soul or feeling.

But i was suprised.

FightThisPatent 05-23-2009 09:18 PM

i just discovered Guitar Pro5: http://www.guitar-pro.com

found reference to it in one of the youtube video of this kid.

the program is amazing... compete tablature, plus accompaniment instruments (audio/midi).

there are websites that have all the Guitar Pro tab files, that you can find just about any song you want to learn to play.

i like this site: http://www.gtabs.org/

on day 2 of the 15 day free trial.. definitely worth buying. runs great on my mac.

The kind got talent

Deej 05-24-2009 03:02 AM

dont get e wrong, the kid is good for 10 or whatever, but its not that impressive. I have heard better right here in my own house.

The video Mr Pheer posted is impressive!

Drake 05-24-2009 05:22 AM

Lots of impressive videos posted, mostly from a technical standpoint, not so much musical. Lots of talent nonetheless.
