I was surprised that I had not heard more about this film especially as it starts Tom Cruise. Valkyrie isn?t a great war movie or a action extravaganza however Tom Cruise is good as Stauffenberg and the other actors also make this an enjoyable movie.

Plot
----
Wounded in Africa during World War II, Col. Claus von Stauffenberg (Tom Cruise) returns to his native Germany and joins the Resistance, becoming involved in a daring plan to create a shadow government and assassinate Hitler. Soon, events dictate that he become a central player -- and he finds himself tasked with both leading the coup and personally killing Hitler. Based on true events, this drama co-stars Stephen Fry, Bill Nighy and Eddie Izzard.

As much as people bad mouth Tom Cruise he does make some decent movies. I definitely wanna check this one out regardless of the fact that a couch jumping nut plays the lead role.

Knew about this movie but didn't raise too much interest.But I'll guess I'll watch it for Tom.

The movie sucked.

It especially sucks when you already know how it's going to end,

as anyone who has payed attention to the history channel the past 5 years does.

Bottom line,

this movie and the resources put towards it could have been of much better use doing a different period piece other than the same old nazi bullshit :2 cents:

It's not super movie but does the job when rented.
You just throw in 4$ and 4 people or more can watch it hehehehehehe

I didn't know about the fact that they tried 15 times to kill the sun of a bitch from the INSIDE !

It's good but not very true to history. Stauffenberg was a super nazi and agreed with most of Hitlers beliefs.

Rented it last night and thought it was ok. Knowing how it ends takes any suspense out of it.

What I got a kick out of was how slow communications were back then.

I was thinking the same thing. If they had cell phones etc, it would never have happened.

I think Kenneth Branagh would have been better cast as Stauffenberg -- but it was Cruise's film, and there was no way he was going to let anyone else be the star.
