Okay -- so there is a public inquiry in Canada at the moment into $225k cash that was paid to former prime minister Brian Mulroney by a German businessman.

The inquiry has cost $14 million, and the tax payer is on the hook for Mulroney's legal fees -- which are about another $2 million.

Why the fuck did they spend $16 million to find out how Mulroney got $225k....?

This seems a little bit fucking crazy to me.

the cost is not really 225k, if people get the idea they can get bribes and not be caught society eventually loses must more due to corruption

Not doubt that public officials should be held accountable -- but it seems a little bit excessive to spend so much money, that will not be able to be recouped if Mulroney is found to have been corrupted.

it is fucking ridiculous, the fact we are on the hook for his legal bills and he was found guilty of not paying taxes on half the amount is nuts.
