56k Videos Needed or Not ?
 

When we process a video we make a 56k version too... but I am wondering if it's even needed now adays... ?

Who uses them ? Needed or not ? Can there really still be that many people on dial ups ? Surely if they can afford memberships to websites they can afford broadband lol ?!

Why not offer it?

Some people for sure are still using dialup, it may even not be about the money. Some people are simply
in shit areas and dont have access to broadband. Either way how can it hurt having the option? :2 cents:

Yeah I offer 56k but I've stopped doing it, not worth my time vs how many actually d/l it, it's 2009 get with the fucking times

we offer a low bit rate version in wmv however even that may be an issue on dial up.

At the moment it is estimated around 10 percent of usa internet home users are on dial up....so its not a lot but still a chunk of the market.

Sounds like the court is out on this one...

The reason not to bother is a time issue... I process the video and the time taken to produce the 56k version could be better spent !

I will see if we can get detailed logs to see if the 56k versions are downloaded :)

Dont use it, never had a complaint.

Stopped doing them about a year ago as no one was downloading them and no one has ever mentione them since.
