Lenovo are solid laptops. Whoever I know have it, love it. I own 2 dell laptops, will never buy one again. HP will get the job done.

Well I have my old school laptop from HP (Compax nx7400), works for two and a half years like a clockwork.

Sure don't have anything to bitch about.

I have both desktop and laptop

Desktop is good and have been rolling for 3 years with no problems at all.
Laptop bought one of their more expensive models and motherboard needed to be replaced after 3 weeks, found out there is a fault with the graphics card and their fix is to have the fan run all the time.

Oh and after I sent my laptop for repairs it came back with a scratch in the monitor, dirt behind the glass and a dead pixel they apparently change the monitor as well because they needed one with no faults for someone else.

So NO I WILL NEVER BUY HP AGAIN

Friend of mine just called the other day because he was having problems with his HP he just bought. It's brand new and started blue-screening after plugging it in. It could've just been a bad one though.

I believe best buy carries Asus now, I'd rather have one of those over a Dell or probably any pre-built PC. But I don't think they have any with the latest i7 cpus, which I guess most people don't need. If ya don't want to build it yourself it would probably be best to have one built for you with the best parts.

I wouldn't recommend HP for laptops.

I had an HP laptop for about 4 years and it worked just fine.
Dell on the other hand....everyone I knew in college who had one had to send it back for some sort of major repair which seemed pretty shady to me. I think everyone at my school got a Dell student special and it turns out their laptops were pretty special-special education that is.

We have gateway and hp pcs in the office. granted both a low end models but the gateway has been nothing but problems and the HP has been ok so far. Most problems seem to be vista related rather than the actual pc imho...

I used to shit all over HP's (and compaqs)

Now I have a desktop and laptop and they work great and would buy again

I won't touch a HP or Compaq. At least as of a few years ago they were using shitty ass motherboards and way below standard powers supplies that would go out at least once a year. Terrible build quality. Things might have changed but if you do buy one, I recommend formatting it right when you get it and reinstall just the OS and not all the extra shit they include.
