Things you can do with Wordpress - Part #1

i thought i'd give y'all some inspiration..

i my never-ending quest to find another use for WP (aside from blogging), i created a live search engine. just integrate as many sponsor feeds as you can find and have a nifty theme - that'll do the trick and wham, you have an "adult search engine".

example: fuknrad (not that many feeds integrated, but seach for "porn" or "lesbians" to see it in action)

next up: "things you can do with wordpress - part #2:" adult ezinearticles clone.

..cheerz!

That's actually pretty cool. Wordpress is VERY flexible.

About an adult CMS

Rangermoore 05-19-2009 04:43 PM

Interesting....very cool....

harvey 05-19-2009 05:06 PM

you can do virtually ANYTHING with Wordpress. I've done adult CMSs (yes, almost a year before Adult Site CMS, lol, the only thing is that we offer it to our clients as a management tool instead of selling it), virtual libraries, paysites, regular sites that don't look like WordPress and you'd never know if I don't tell you, now we're working on a forum... well, as I said, you can do virtually ANYTHING. Your solution, even though it's really simple is very creative, I'd dress it up different so it looks more like a search engine, but cool idea anyway.

To be honest, 1 year from now I imagine an scenario where all sites will run under WordPress by default, and then you may integrate something else if needed, but not using WordPress right now is quite dumb, it makes things easier, faster, more organized and it's just SE candy. And to make it better, it only evolves, and it evolves on a day-by-day basis, something you can't say about any other script or software out there

the part about seeing every site running under wordpress by default

:)

especially when you consider that with as many die hard wordpress users out there...there are just as many waiting to tell you how much better movabletype, joomla, drupal and a host of other cms/blogging platforms are. Let's not even get to custom coded CMS's. Wordpress just happens to be your flavor of choice.

Don't get me wrong...i build most of my sites on wordpress because the ease of the templating system and the huge helpful community of users and plugin developers but i'm under no delusion that wordpress is the end all be all of web development.

st0ned 05-19-2009 07:41 PM

Interesting...is that a plug or a custom script?

Young 05-19-2009 07:43 PM

Back on topic.

Anyone do anything cool with Wordpress MU yet?

aah, gotcha, when I said WordPress I'd have said any free CMS, whether it's Joomla, Movable Type, Drupal, Gawker or whatever.

And yes, WordPress is my flavor of choice as well as most people out there. It's reliable, robust, featured rich... I mean, a big part of commercial software doesn't have 50% of features WordPress have, so why settle with mediocre PAID software when I can have the best, customize it as I want and best of all, for free? As an example, the CMSs we build have way more features than any paid CMS, and believe me I know most (if not all) of them. There are some weak spots, of course, but at worst, if I need it I can hire a great php programmer and bang! nobody can get there unless we're talking about 5 figures custom software. So it's pure maths: one of the best pieces of software FOR FREE against outdated software for variable ranges of money. To me, it's pretty clear. And if someone can't see it... well, their loss, not mine :)

harvey 05-19-2009 08:40 PM

btw, by learning WP possibilities I've learned how to develop other CMSs beyond their boundaries, so I can replicate most features of any CMS within another (I'm talking about paid CMS) within certain limits imposed by the CMS themselves, of course. And that's just the beginning, there are plugins that accept tens or hundreds of CC processors, including adult CC processing (with some flaws, but there will be others soon), there are plugins that manipulate content in ways no any other script (custom or commercial) could even dream of... basically, you get with the times or you get at a side of the road (when I say you I don't mean you specifically, I'm talking in general)

Would have been nice to see the demo - has anybody else done similar?
