xbox / xbox live players - need headset advice please
I don't own, or play an xbox, but a good friend has just ordered one of these for her boyfriend
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/ga.../5095&cl=us,en without really knowing whether it will work or not for the console. Now I know xbox has 3 USB ports - therefore it should work ok as far as I'm concerned .. however she wants to be sure, and I know there are plenty of xbox addicts on this forum. Will this headest be suitable for xbox live, or not? Any answers greatly appreciated :) thanks |
He means Xbox 360 just in case you were wondering.... :)

err yes thanks joel for showing my total lack of console knowledge ;)

That's a good question and you've stumped me. Good job.
I checked and see nothing but questions asking and no answers. Lots of reviews and not a single mention of compatibility with the 360. It only lists Windows. So I'm going to say no, but you never know. Specifications System Requirements o PC with 32-bit or 64-bit Windows® XP or Windows Vista® |
I would say no as most PC gaming headsets don't work with the 360.
For Xbox surround sound headphones, these are the best I tried http://www.turtlebeach.com/products/efx4/home.aspx You can find them on sale for $169 if you search the internet. Perfect for not waking up the girlfriend while you play late at night and the surround sound is perfect. |
BTW, If those are too expensive I've also tried the Triton AX360 http://www.trittontechnologies.com/p...s/TRIGA600.htm
They are a little cheaper but the Turtle Beach ones are worth the few extra bucks. They are more comfortable and sound a little better, plus they are wireless. |
It's not compatible with the XBOX 360.
XBox360's have a stereo 1/8th plug that connect to the wireless controllers. The logitech headphones you point to connect via a USB cable, and also act as their own sound card (Windows will see it as a Sound-Blaster style DEVICE, not just headphones and a mic). Sorry! |
shitty, thanks mark

They type of headphones you are looking for actually hook into the optical out port of the 360, not the controller headphone jack.
