The Sims Online

This might sound like a no brainer, but I'm thinking that Will Wright over at Electronic Arts has pioneered the next huge money maker in the online adult business.

The Sims Online is easily going to revolutionize online gaming... I'm guessing much more than Everquest ever did or will. And we all know that once something gets popular, there is an adult ripoff video (or in this case, website) on the shelves in mere weeks.

Someone in the biz is working on this right now I'll wager. :winkwink:

I dunno, they better make it a LOT more exciting...I had the beta of the game for a month...it was cool for a week and got old really fast. It's something I may pay the inital chunk of change for the software for...but it's nowhere near worth the $10/mo for online service.

But I'm probably wrong...look at how many sims expansions came out this year for the desktop version...like 6...all $20-30 and I know people who bought each and every one.

I dont understand the attraction to this game. I have several friends who play it all day long everyday... it's an addiction I guess.

personally I have never even played the game - it looks way to boring for me.

Mechassault, here I come!

There must be something to it, though.
Personally, I prefer SimCity 3000. If that were to go online with multi-players, I'd give it a shot.

Verant hit the nail on the head with EQ. UO started it (Merridian 59 was a good candidate, but the machines of the time weren't up to it really) and EQ took it a stage further.

Now with Star Wars Galaxies, I think they're going to push it even further. The vaporware games that will never see the light of day will be left in the dust or become high niche games such as AC.

SimCity 3000 *drool*

I love the SimCity games. I could play that forever...

Too bad SimCity 4 has been delayed.

SimCity 4? Hmm... I hadn't heard of it. Think it will be a multi-player game? I hope so...

I just got Asheron's Call 2. Amazing graphics and pretty fun.

I seem to recall the original Sims now holds the top spot as the biggest selling PC game of all time.

Pretty impressive.

hehe... isn't that why we all play it? :)
I had a look at the new SimCity4 and it looks great... However no mention if it will be multi-player.

Sjayne 11-27-2002 08:28 AM

just thought i would point out that if you are in the beta it is against the terms and conditions to talk about it on message boards other than their particular board.

I can't get the install file to work correctly but I am sure that is just me.

Beastiepoo 11-27-2002 10:09 AM

I do like the Sims but I can see that the online version would get boring fast. They are gonna have to make it MEGA interactive or else all you are gonna be doing is standing around talking to people. You can do that for free on BBS's and chat rooms.

But then my favourite part of the Sims is cheating to get a load of money and then building the biggest, most impressive house on the block. Maybe what I really need is an architectual design program. :)

Evil Chris 11-27-2002 02:04 PM

From what I've read, the players with the most success so far are the ones who attract the most people to their houses...

SimHookers and SimBongs for everyone!

my house would omplode.........

Sjayne 11-27-2002 05:36 PM

The house party expansion pack comes with a bong. Well, offically it blows bubbled but after they take a hit they all lay back and get the giggles..please!

Can sort of do hookers too. I have one female sim that lures guys in, marries them, collects their money and kills them off.
