Favorite Bob Dylan Song?

Every music store I went to this weekend was having a big Dylan promotion which made me go home and pull out my collection.

What is your favorite Dylan song?

This is mine. I love the combo of just a good tune and activism:

Nydahl 05-11-2009 06:55 AM

The Truth Hurts 05-11-2009 07:16 AM

Not my favorite, but this video is awesome because of all the freaky people. Cool song too though.

The best part is crowd shot between 4:10 and 4:40. lol

markethustler 05-11-2009 11:11 AM

This Wheels On Fire

Open The Door, homer

Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues

really hard question. Today it will be Desolation Row. If you ask me tomorrow I will answer differently.

marcop 05-11-2009 12:15 PM

Like A Rolling Stone, It's All Over Now, Baby Blue, Desolation Row, Positively 4th Street (You've got a lot of nerve...). Jeez, he wrote so many great songs.

Sean 05-11-2009 12:19 PM

The sickest part about that is that I didn't even check to see what you posted before posting.

I didn't even see what you posted until now. :1orglaugh

The entire Blood On The Tracks album is a monster. It's hard to think of many poets or lyricists who can touch the words on that album. And the music on it perfectly brings the stories he's telling to life. On "Jack Of Hearts" you are literally transported back to the old west for instance. The album is a true work of art.

Calico Jack 05-11-2009 02:24 PM

Positively 4th Street and Just like a woman.

CaptainHowdy 05-11-2009 03:25 PM

The one he never wrote, played or recorded...

raven1083 05-11-2009 04:34 PM

I miss his songs so far. Thanks for sharing this video!

Easily his best album.
My favorties are "Idiot Wind", "Shelter From the Storm","Tangled Up in Blue" and "Simple Twist of Fate."

I second that, "Blood on the Tracks" is probably his best work.

Here is a snippet of lyrics from "Idiot Wind"

"I woke up on the roadside, daydreamin' 'bout the way things sometimes are
Visions of your chestnut mare shoot through my head and are makin' me see stars.
You hurt the ones that I love best and cover up the truth with lies.
One day you'll be in the ditch, flies buzzin' around your eyes,
Blood on your saddle."

Jokerman from Infidels. I am still unsure who he is talking about coming out of his re-born religious days and just after Reagan was elected...

Hurricane has always been a favorite of mine. All Along the Watchtower isn't too bad either. He had a lot of great songs to be honest. Big part of my youth came back just reading some of the titles you guys came up with so far.

One More Cup of Coffee

MediaGuy 05-11-2009 09:51 PM

Of all the songs of his that I love, Isis is the one that most blew me away on the first listen - especially the unreleased version from the Biograph compilation.

If I'm not mistaken that one was recorded at Le Club Montreal, now The Spectrum, in Montreal.

DaddyHalbucks 05-11-2009 10:37 PM

My favorite Dylan tune is this gem:

"My Voice Sounds Like Nails on a Blackboard and I Stole All My Works From Irish Folk Songs."

It's a real beauty.

chodadog 05-11-2009 10:44 PM

Masters of War.

Although I prefer Eire Og's cover: https://youtube.com/watch?v=F1Owu...eature=related
