Wolverine movie downloaded over 4 million times.
Just ran across this article and it says they now estimate that the Wolverine movie has been downloaded over 4 million times.
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/...5bb07f108f27f2 I would imagine the studio is not very happy. |
damn thats a lot of dl's
|
I am one of those 4 million people, so are a few members here.
|
I downloaded the workprint to check it out. I liked it. Then I went and caught the movie in the theater with a bunch of friends. Wolverine was the top movie with something like $90 million in ticket sales opening weekend?
|
i didnt download anything
|
downloaded it then went n saw it for the missing effects, as im sure a ton of people did.
|
You mean 4 million time-shifted backups
|
Workprints are incredible. They're a secret behind-the-scenes that you never, never get to see. I love them.
Seen the movie, and the workprint. |
damn thats a lot of downloads
|
I'm going to go see it in theaters, pirate assholes!
|
Only shitty movies deserve the download treatment. Like star trek, terminator 4,etc.

I don't understand why someone would waste their bandwidth, and possibly taint their expectations of a movie they anticipate seeing -- based on an unfinished workprint.
|
How are they going to make any money?

crazy amount of time shifting going on, on the interwebs

I downloaded the workprint to check it out. I hated it. I never went to catch the movie in the theater because I already knew it sucked since I watched the workprint. :pimp
|
People still download movies? There's a thing called streaming where you don't really have to store any evidence locally anymore.. lol.

And yet the debut was still damn close to even the highest predictions.

It's the worst way, ever, to watch a movie. I don't know how people can make themselves sit through 1.5 hours of squinting at pixels. Movies are meant to be enjoyed. |
it's called security backup :D

I never download or watch Pirate materials. Kind of hypocrytical when we all bitch about tube sites etc. Besides its good to watch a really good movie on a huge screen with other people around. Can't beat the "Cinema Experience"

workprints really are something else... |
adapt or die.
And by adapt I don't mean have all your bones replaced with adamantium. :1orglaugh:1orglaugh |

so thats like an extra 20mill lost in ticket sales.

This movie sucked. It was unnecessary.
|
I don't know why, I can't imagine anything more boring than watching a workprint.
I saw it in theatres :) |

Downloading or streaming a first-run movie is THEFT. Anyone who does this doesn't ever get to bitch about tube sites stealing their traffic or money. Next, why would anyone base the quality of a movie until its actually finished? A "Workprint" is usually to manage things such as pacing. It can be missing lots of other elements besides visual effects such as color correction, music, sound, etc. Many scenes are also re-shot and re-shot again between the workprint and final print. Finally, if you watch movies on your PC or a handheld, you are denying yourself the thrill of the movie-going experience. PC movie-watchers do NOT get to be critics. |

The problem is, we can say adapt or die all we want but the truth is there will still be illegal movies downloaded because people wont want to be bothered by the seeded or ad placement versions. This isn't really an adapt or die mentality, it is a "I want my shit free and as much of it as I can get" mentality. :2 cents: |
