windows 7

Thinking about putting it on my editing computer. Would you recommend just adding a partition or clean c drive? Adding partition looks appealing that if I dont like it I dont have to reformat everything. Or was thinking buy another hard drive they are cheap and could put it on that.If I dont like it I just can swap the drives. Your thoughts?

Porn Producer 05-06-2009 01:10 PM

it's very good

once you install it, you wont need to go back

Si 05-06-2009 01:20 PM

i'm tempted aswell.

Vista is working fine for me. No reason to dick around with changes. I don't need to have the most current version of windows to get by.

Sosa 05-06-2009 03:56 PM

I've been thinking of throwing it on a box as well.

woj 05-06-2009 04:44 PM

What's new in it it anyway? it's basically what vista was supposed to be?

woj 05-06-2009 04:46 PM

and what's the device drivers situation like? it runs on vista drivers?

drewsdesign 05-06-2009 05:16 PM

Its worth trying out. I'd get the extra harddrive, save you making any install mistakes and alot of time resizing and fucking around with partitions.

I need to update my laptizzle with the new version of the beta. I'm pretty sure the new one lets you run it for a whole year, or so I've heard and too lazy to look up myself.

but shit, i dont think i have my key anymore :(

sandman! 05-06-2009 10:14 PM

spend the $40 on a hd to test it on if you dont have spare hd's laying around.

qwe 05-06-2009 10:55 PM

w7 is awesome, you won't go to vista... i got 64bit version running for over a month with not 1 issue

tornell 05-06-2009 11:07 PM

win7 > same as vista

Simon_Spicecash 05-06-2009 11:24 PM

Been running Windows 7 for a few months now. Haven't run into one bug, crash, hiccup...nothing! It's really was vista was supposed to be I guess. Only real "major" change really is the taskbar, which is somewhat like an OSX dock.

They just released the RC client - I'll prolly reformat and upgrade to the new one this week.

For the record, I use the entire adobe suite, and a few lesser known programs - I.E. Videocharge, ACDSEE, Filezilla, etc. as well as a few games that all run without a hitch.

I installed this on my main computer - an HP "desktop replacer" the first of its kind from HP, and didn't have to fuss over any drivers...it all just *worked* right after install, which was very cool, considering the model had just been released by HP and all.

My next pc upgrade will be when win7 final is released.

bbobby86 05-07-2009 01:08 AM

best from microsoft...

voa 05-07-2009 01:13 AM

I will tested this days also , many people says that this is the best OS ever

gimo33 05-07-2009 02:10 AM

go ahead and buy a new hard drive..
putting it on a partition is less safe.. you'll lose both partition if your HD fail..

tical 05-07-2009 03:49 AM

best windows OS ever, hands down.. blows vista away

works flawlessly, automatically downloads drivers from the net, etc.... no crashing... its just awesome

from what i read you can even uninstall IE8 if you want

dav3 05-07-2009 04:22 AM

nation-x 05-07-2009 07:05 AM

I am not even sure what the whole anti-vista thing is about... I have been running it for over a year and I have never had any problems with it.

candyflip 05-07-2009 07:08 AM

I'm going to upgrade my one and only Vista box this weekend.

Had it running on my Netbook the other day and was impressed with how well it ran there.

windows 7 is about 100x better than vista

it's light, very fast and never crashes

all the vista drivers work on windows 7, but most places already offer windows 7 drivers anyway

Ravage 05-07-2009 02:08 PM

I plan to throw it on my other 500gig drive and dual-boot (well, triple boot), XP, W7 and Ubuntu over the weekend.
