DrChango 05-06-2009 02:34 PM

The Patriot Act is chocked full of stuff that certain nefarious individuals had been trying to get through Congress for the preceding twenty years. Do you really think they cranked out a 200 plus page legal document overnight? Nope.

How was the day job?
You seem a little bitter. Fry-0-lator burn you again?
Congress passed it, bush signed it, and your hero Obama is using it. Just like gitmo.

It's amazing how gullable you kids were. Buying into that whole "change we need". :1orglaugh

Sausage 05-06-2009 03:56 PM

Surprised they had the balls to do that story.

From all the new laws and abuses of power in the last year over there I would be getting the hell out of the US if it were me.

jakethedog 05-06-2009 04:00 PM

Your fucking "Patriot Act" has totally infringed on ALL countries .. in laymans terns there is a part of it saying that they can freely investigate/scrutinize and spy on ANYONE who has any dealings with any US company ....

Canadian medicare .. and 80% of the larger companies we use for services .. cell phone providers .. Gas and Oil .. which is actually CANADIAN fuel sources ..

So that all said .. The US Patriot Act allows the US Government total freedom to spy on pretty much anyone they want .. err .. GHEY ..

Joshua G 05-06-2009 04:10 PM

I'm pretty sure he is guilty. I trust Obama.

The Duck 05-06-2009 04:14 PM

He looks kinda shifty doesnt he. The mom probably cheered for bush when he signed the patriot act and now when it is being used against them they whine. This is the change you have been looking for!

Yeah, I am sure his room always had that decor when he lived in it, just like he looks like that sweet, innocent photo they kept showing.

Home schooled. Why do I have a bad feeling about this?

Well... that seems highly illegal to snatch a kid from their home and not give the parents access to him. Sounds like kidnapping to me. But it's ok, their the government. :disgust

Probably he`s pc was just a zombie from a botnet and some russians used it for some hacking or so i guess.

Jon 05-06-2009 06:54 PM

Forget the Patriot Act, they don't even need that to arrest you. Its just a damn name for something they've been doing for YEARS. That kid isn't getting a trial until he's 18 I'll bet.

A long time ago, when I was a young teenager, and the internet was lawless and fun, a friend and I got nabbed for doing some "not nice things" on the interwebs. Even though we had always heard stories about hackers (which we weren't) getting picked up by the feds for this or that, we always assumed after they pick you up, you get to cry to your parents about it and hear from your lawyer a few hours later. NOT TRUE.

When my house got raided by the Secret Service I was immediately handcuffed with that plastic zip tieband thing, and tossed into a Suburban-like vehicle, scared shitless, then whisked away to some federal "building" aka temp holding area for about 2 days of questioning. During those 2 days, I was NOT allowed to speak or see my parents. I was NOT allowed to see or speak to a lawyer. I went through what seemed like hours and hours of repeated interrogations by different feds asking the same questions over and over and over again. Hands down, scariest moment in my life to date.

Now mind you, I was very much underage. I was not a threat at all, and they kept saying so themselves! And I was also scared so shitless and so shocked that I could hardly talk for the first few hours. During all of this, my parents were told that I was a "threat to national security, therefore all of my rights were waived". Even though the stuff we did had NOTHING to do with that national security bullshit. So yeah, if you think this shit can't happen to you, you're so wrong, and if you think they may discriminate and treat you differently, you're wrong again. Age has zero bearing with these things.

I definitely feel for the kid that's being held, and for his family too. I'm sure its rough as hell and frustrating too. I can't even begin to imagine how traumatized that kid will be for life from all of this. I went through it for 2 days, this kid has been in it for months.. shit.

There's probably no way what I had done would ever fall even near to what the Patriot Act is for, but for anyone who thinks that this stuff is just starting to happen now, well you're dead wrong, as its been going on for a very long time now, you just rarely hear about it.

Agent 488 05-06-2009 07:07 PM

Exactly :)

3rd world Health system, 3rd world civil liberties, 3rd world education standards (being quite generous there too). The list goes on.

That's quite a statement from someone who doesn't live here.
Odd how everyone who can afford to leaves their home country to come here for an education or life saving medical treatment.

One of the funniest lines of any video I've seen in recent memory...like that doesn't give away that the whole flag shit in his bedroom and him being a goodie twoshoes is a complete bullshit facade. Not saying he shouldn't be entitled to due process and that the Patriot Act and the govt in general bullying citizens whenever they want for whatever they want isn't horrendous and something that should be stopped somehow, but from that video it seems to me most likely that he's either guilty of it or he's into nefarious enough shit anyways to have majorly pissed off someone foul enough to set him up for it - either way something's not right with this picture and that kid just does not look like a good kid.

That line is just hilarious though. "Clueless" mom then BOOM, blasting cap, lol.

You have a solid point, those who can afford to get treatment do come to the US, but the vast majority who cant afford even basic treatment are discarded, thats not a health system. Even in 3rd world countries the rich can get great treatment. :)

12clicks you have to admit that on average the US health system is pretty bad. You guys pay way too much for care, and good care is out of reach of a massive number of citizens.

this simply isn't true.
this is merely the propaganda you're fed by entities that DON'T want you to think our way is the right way.
If they didn't, it would be an admission that what you have is not as good as what we have. No one will admit that.

12clicks 05-07-2009 07:37 AM

I can walk into any Dr.'s office and get whatever treatment I need and my insurance covers it. (and my employees can do exactly the same thing)

John-ACWM 05-07-2009 08:37 AM

Tom_PM 05-07-2009 09:14 AM

Blasting caps are in pop culture. Hell, the simpsons had a blasting cap 20 yrs ago in an episode. Everyone knows the term blasting cap. Isn't all of this arm chair judging wildly off point anyway?
I mean, lets say the kid phoned in 20 bomb threats to 20 schools or whatever they say ok? Lets say he DID make those calls ok? Now then. Don't you think Barney Fife with no bullets in his gun could have "rounded up" the stupid punk ass kid? I mean come on. You need the PATRIOT ACT to deal with a kid making prank calls now?

Ok.
