Songs you like from bands you normally hate?
 

Don't you hate it when a band that you normally can't stand comes up with a song you actually like or that you can't get out of your head. When it happens it throws me because I am usually pretty sure of what bands I do like and which I don't.

Which songs have you liked from bands you normally dislike?

I am going to throw Take That's Rule The World into the pot. I do not like boy b(l)ands but I hate to say it this is a good song. I liked it more when I heard a choir sing it.

I pretty much despise the band 311 but love their cover of Love Song.

I hate the Offspring with a passion, but this song grabs me, which is kind of ironic because it sounds like their other songs.



I always thought of myself as someone who didn't like Beck. One day I was shuffling through my Ipod, and I realized "hey, I must really like Beck, because every fucking album he's ever made."

This is my favorite Beck song....among others.

pah..I forgot that the UK is in the middle of some fight with the performance rights people and a lot of music videos on Youtube won't work for me. Still will find them though :)

I know..what the heck is happening? I have always been very ant-Take That but that song is another good one. It is actually nearly a good album..ouch.

The only thing that could be worse is if Sclub reformed and suddenly had musical talent too. Then, I would really feel dirty.

That whole album is pretty great.

Yeah..it is like he couldn't get a deal on his own so he talked the others in to going along for the ride while he did all the work.

I don't like a TON of Blur stuff (Damon's done MUCH better stuff with Gorillaz) and I kind of agree Song 2 is among their better stuff, but IMO Blur doesn't get any better than Girls and Boys and I don't even normally like that kind of song:



For me the song by a band I hate would have to be 1979 by Smashing Pumpkins:



I remember when Bullets With Butterfly Wings was popular and a friend of mine had bought Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness...fucking hated most of it but loved 1979 and thought they'd probably be stupid and release some other bullshit singles like Bullets was, and sure enough they made it their 2nd single and it was their only #1 rock song. On just about everything else he sounds like a total whiner.

Also, Lost Cause is also one of my fave Beck songs too. That album and The Information are both pretty damn nice...hell, almost all his albums are the shit. One of the most underappreciated musical minds IMO.
