The value of type-in traffic has really fallen!

I rememberr getting 1/150 on stuff that was pretty tight to a niche and up to about 1/300 on stuff that was pretty generic. Crap, I am seeing 1/600 on the generic if that. On stuff that gets just a few hundred type-ins a year it no longer covers the cost to register them.

Topbucks has a bunch of sites with well-branded domain names (Milf Seeker and Teens for Cash come to mind) and I think our type-in ratios aren't as good as they could be because surfers routinely type-in the domain name (which are damn easy to remember), fap to the tours, and then do it all again the next night.

The question seems to be one of "are we 'giving away the store'?" which is exacerbated by the fact that "teensforcash" sticks in a person's head, which aids repeat "drive-by fapping"

or I'm reading way too much into the whole thing :winkwink:

Yeah domains really do better with some sort of site on them now.

Honestly, they didn't used to. Sending a surfer straight to the paysite was the way to go. Now i am adding sites to pickup more SE traffic so that ratios if staying this bad at least I can track better, and I have a chance at the increased traffic.

Well we will see if it makes sense. So far i am not seeing a reduction in sales and tracking better. Lets see if the old touch with SE traffic is still there. ;)

I could be wrong but the goal is that they enjoy it so much that they buy a membership to keep good long videos on tap. So this returning is better for you guys and a bit harder on the affiliate.

This has been the case for a long time.

People have google now, no need to guess at type-ins.

lower key type-in domains might as well be SEO'd now day's.

I am sort of amazed as the typein volume isn't that much lower. The amount of sales per typein is.

I have always assumed the average typein is a 12 year old so not exactly conducive to online sales. But they converted so who knew. Now they are not.

Surfers are getting wiser by the click.

abyss_al 05-04-2009 07:06 PM

Not sure of the growth of US traffic last year but it was not 20%. We have leveled off here. Worldwide it is up but not sure to what percent is english speaking then.
