cleaning estimate: oh my figgin gawd!

holy shit.... got an estimate for the house to be cleaned before we move in..... how the fuck can light cleaning cost over $800 bucks? This does not include carpet or anything either....

X37375787 11-25-2002 05:43 PM

damn, almost sounds like angry Ohio State fans rioted in there ! :eek2

cherrylula 11-25-2002 05:44 PM

this might sound wrong, but sometimes I appreciate housework because it actually gets me the fuck away from my computer.

volante 11-25-2002 05:49 PM

'Pede repellant?

Amputate Your Head 11-25-2002 05:51 PM

looks like I'll be doing some housework.... :helpme

gothweb 11-25-2002 05:53 PM

Dude, get a more competitive quote.

Amputate Your Head 11-25-2002 05:54 PM

does that seem normal for cleaning?

seems kinda excessive to me.... it basically just needs to have everything wiped down once.... it's not trashed.... just kinda dusty.... but $800+ for that? Can that be right?

it'd probably take an hour to do the whole place....

goBigtime 11-25-2002 06:01 PM

No thats a shit quote. Find a neighborhood shopper or pennysaver or something like that & look for someone out of there. Tell them you'll give them $xxx and give them a list of exactaly what you want cleaned.

$800? They better clean the place topless, take your kids to school, cook you dinner and then some.

Just tell them GFY and kick em' in the head. ;)

ColKurtz 11-25-2002 06:03 PM

Schwick 11-25-2002 06:05 PM

That is crazy. When I lived in LA a woman would come and totally clean everthing just like my mother had been there....even do the laundry, all for 50 bucks.
They are used to dealing with people with way too much money and the only way anything gets done is when they pay someone else to do it.

BVF 11-25-2002 06:10 PM

there aren't any wetbacks in hawaii so what can you do?

railz 11-25-2002 06:10 PM

My mum's visiting right now and she went through my apartment and I've never sene it so clean. I'm a tidy person too.

Want me to ship her to you? lol

bugout 11-25-2002 06:10 PM

I have a maid come in twice a week, cleans the place top to bottom, and cooks. $30 a week :Graucho

Dude just don't hire topless french maids, as fun as it may sound it tends to drive the price up.

Sure thing! You'll find a balance of 0. And I just canceled the credit card that was connected to it.

PornoDoggy 11-25-2002 07:09 PM

If you know somebody who owns or manages apartment buildings, see who they use. Sounds like you got an estimate from somebody your realator recommended. If you called a regular maid or cleaning service, they really aren't set up to price that kind of cleaning.

beemk 11-25-2002 08:56 PM

my parents used to own a cleaning service. i think they used to charge about 20 an hour per person or something like that. 800 sounds ridiculous.

Amputate Your Head 11-25-2002 08:57 PM

just found out this $800 price also doesn't include doing the windows....

what the fuck? :eek7

Sambuka 11-25-2002 09:19 PM

My 4 level 5 bedroom house in NZ cost US$450 to clean FULLY, I mean Everything. I told them I wouldn't pay such a bullshit price and they agreed to drop it to US$350.

US$800? shit AMP you realize they SHOULD of cleaned your house before you moved in. Sometimes there not always up to scracth.

Hey just hire some Mexican for 2 cents and have your whole house cleaned for $2.

Sammy

i was a little off... it's $680 without the windows... $800+ with them... but still.... kinda stiff I think.

beemk 11-25-2002 10:20 PM

call around amp. there has to be more than one similiar place.

Jamie 11-25-2002 10:28 PM

Hire a family of mexicans, that's what we do in LA. Cheap and good at what they do. You can probably get the whole family for $30 an hour.

My sister owns her own domestic cleaning service tell me how may square feet it is and I can give you and Idea. But just off the top of my head and after hearing her talk. A first time clean (detail cleaning) for a 1200 sq foot home is about a 4 hour clean @ 30 per hour so if you have a huge place like 6000 sq ft and a high cost of living 800 would be close

Kimmykim 11-25-2002 10:33 PM

I'd figure 25-50 bucks per hour per cleaning person for a good job. Most cleaning services want to do more deep cleaning when they first come, and then hope you'll keep them on for regular service weekly. Unless you have a really small house or it's really clean already they don't sound too off the wall.

When my sister started her cleaning busisness (ladybug cleaning) a year and a half ago she asked me to go in with her of course I laughed at the idea. Now her company owns two volkswagon bettles and she has paid both of them off and she has 6 people working for her while she sits at home most of the time and does paperwork. Her net income is around 5k a month
