Damn if you paid big $$$ for sex.tv or gay.tv you are fucked :pimp

Under new ICANN rules, very soon every company meeting the technical and financial conditions, will be able to run their own domain registry.
That could mean, that the current .TV registry operators, should be able to run their registry in future, even if the Tuvalu Islands don't exist anymore. |

Google translate sounds like a retarded 4th grader.

damn I have a good one WetPorn [dot] .tv and some others, but I am selling or not renewing the rest I own.
All these country codes, .info, etc. just waters down the whole domain market. Plus it cost trademark holders more money since your trying to protect your brand. |
I have a couple, my only active one is:
http://www.adultreality.tv and that's fowarded at the moment. |
I have one .TV domain.. and wouldn't really miss it if TV went bye bye.

People, .TV wont disappear.
IF the island sinks, (which it wont) the owners of dot .tv and verisign will come up with something cause they make helluva lot of cash on the extension, they wont let it slip into the ocean, they will have it secured up on deck with some naked navy marine guys holdin it tight. And thats a fact! And if the island sink they will run the extension as a .TV as in just for TV. And thats even better for domainers webmasters etc. Its not so good for the islanders doe... but it wont sink. This rising of the sea stuff is just propaganda, top oceanologist has said its a scam. The ones who did the "official" reports speak the "$" language. |

Uh, maybe they just put a computer on a fucking boat out there.

There was some former oil rig, now just a big steel platform in the ocean, that somebody was trying to sell as a "country" sometime back. Dunno whatever happened to it. Pirate Bay was talking about trying to raise the funds to buy it.

sounds pretty fucked up

Have they ever pulled a tld before?
|
.tv would become a gTLD if Tuvalu disappeared. If ICANN even hinted at pulling it, the backlash would be HUGE, primarily from people that paid big bucks for premium .tv domains and owners of prominent sites on .tv domains like justin.tv and ustream.tv - there's no f'in way they'd pull it.

sea level fluctuations are real and have existed for as long as the earth has been covered in water and have been rising for as long as we have been recording data http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sea_level_rise |
From the site:
"Tuvalu's sinking, but its domain is on solid ground ... ... Now, that brings up a question: What happens to a domain if a nation disappears? VeriSign spokesman Tom Galvin tells me that a defunct country's Internet domain lives on. For instance, you can still find addresses on .su ? the domain for the Soviet Union." http://www.usatoday.com/money/indust...7-tuvalu_x.htm |
I heart your avatar, HandballJim.
