the license on these themes says that you cannot use this for commercial sites, in other words Adsense or any kind of advertising would not be allowed, nor would using them as an adult affiliate be allowed either

kind of pointless themes then unless you are just into putting out a personal blog with zero advertising :2 cents:

Thanks for the theme fris :thumbsup

you guys use these kinds of themes on an MU setup? am I missing something about a new non-profit craze here in blogging? or do you just ignore the licensing requirements?

(and if so, what are your thoughts on that... is it a philosophical thing due to a belief that themes, add-ons, and plug-ins for OS software should also be considered OS and free and clear to do with and profit off of as one chooses regardless of the wishes of the theme or plug-in creators? or is it something all together different that I haven't thought of here?

along those same lines, would it also be ok in your opinions to strip off any backlink to the theme designer and 'created by' copyright statements out of themes?

I am personally undecided on this, although I kind of lean toward a belief that OS software should also mean that related software and plugins should also be free and OS, but I am curious to hear from the people in this thread that have commented on the greatness of the themes how they feel about the issue)

I always respect the requirements, but it seems you are always hating in my wordpress threads.

I have paid for many plugins and themes, and follow each requirements.

:thumbsup

I'll never understand the "everything is for free" mentality either. I used to go to linux users group meetings. Our group had some of the guys responsible for creating Django so it wasn't just a bunch of enthusiasts. One evening the topic of podcasting came up and I patiently listened to everyone's opinions and tips. I finally asked how one goes about monetizing a podcast and these guys looked at me like I had just shit myself. One guy told me that I apparently "just don't get it."

it wasn't intended as "hating", just pointing out something that was being completely ignored because I always look at the tos and have been frustrated many times when I have found something perfect for a job only to see in a TOS that they have arbitrarily decided that my application was against their wishes... a good example is reflex.js, a really nice javascript effect that I was going to put on a site but then read the license and he disallows use of his script on any commericial or adult sites. so I had to scrap that idea :2 cents:

as far as "hating" in other wordpress threads, all I ever recall posting is something like "blogs are so 2008", which is true, everyone seems to have jumped on the bloated resource hungry wordpress version changing every two weeks bandwagon for every single possible stretch of an application.... just trying to bring some different thought into the madness :1orglaugh

I do admit its bloated, but its simply the best free solution out there right now and its not going away anytime soon.
