Yes I believe they have been experimenting with this for quite a while but the big difference is they think they will be able to do this using regular cheap DVD discs.

just because it's cheap for them doesn't mean it'll be cheap when it comes to market :/

There will always be a need for storage.

I think even more amazing is the possibility of 500TB (that's terabyte) ipods. Wow!

I can't hardly wait. I'm tired of backing up full raw scenes to 5 x 4.7 GB disks.

I recall there were 2 camps in holographic storage (like with the hd-dvd and the blue ray) with 2 kinds of laser technology. Samsung vs optware if I recall it correctly.

500GB or better dvds would definatly sell if they were cheap and boost HD videos overall.

These dvd discs could hold up to 3.9 TB !
