GE Figures Out How To Put 500GB On A Single DVD Disc
|
Did optware in Japan have that many years ago? Called the HVCwriter / holodisc ?
500Gb to 1.2TB on a creditcard or a holographic DVD |
Yes I believe they have been experimenting with this for quite a while but the big difference is they think they will be able to do this using regular cheap DVD discs.

No. There will always be a need for storage. |
I think even more amazing is the possibility of 500TB (that's terabyte) ipods. Wow!

I can't hardly wait. I'm tired of backing up full raw scenes to 5 x 4.7 GB disks.

500GB or better dvds would definatly sell if they were cheap and boost HD videos overall. |
some 2004 and 2005 pages:
http://www.manifest-tech.com/media_dvd/dvd_holo.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holographic_Versatile_Disc These dvd discs could hold up to 3.9 TB ! "the Holographic Versatile Disc (HVD) is an optical disc technology that, in the future, may hold up to 3.9 terabytes (TB) of information, although the current maximum is 500GB" |
should be awesome
