You could stop clicking the other threads.
You could click the link to page 2, or page 3, or page 4.
Lens could turn on the thread rating feature.
You could start a new discussion.
Start more threads ? You can delete threads you start.

Censoring ALL the threads that someone doesn't like wouldn't be good. Just because there's an adult bookstore next to the post office shouldn't mean it should be shut down. Just don't go inside if you don't want to see the contents.

Can your programmers hack it? I dunno... Come on Lensman you dont' add enough features to GFY... I mean if it makes you so much money then why don't you try to make some improvements... Yer just milking it when you could be changing the future of BBS technology... For all we know this is the largest, most profitable BBS in the world right now -- the precedent is right here! I should be able to pull up stats pages for each user of GFY -- in toplist format -- like # of posts, # of new topics, total # of words posted, total posts viewed, # of times posts have been viewed... etc. etc. all these indicators could really shape and form GFY into a better place... I can feel it in my gut... I AM GFY!

NO NO NO that would be too harsh... You kill posts after X number of verified posters have decided to kill the post... And you base X on the activitiy of GFY for that hour/segment of the day...

Say I start this thread -- 1000 people log in to GFY (include lurkers in this calculation) -- then take say 10% needed to kill... So if 100 people vote to kill a thread -- it should die just like that! You could even have the kill thread checkbox in the right column... Then anything that you don't want to read -- bam bam bam -- you just go down the list and try to kill all the threads that look pointless...

I think it would work -- you could play with the percentage... Then GFY would be MORE INTERACTIVE!

Like Karma ? One of the main slashdot style news sites does that. And I think a CMS named Drupal did that. Except in the latter, all threads were member-moderated and they didn't become public until enough members voted to publish it. At the same time, enough members could view the thread as trash and kill it.

So for now -- in GFY's inadequate state... I continue to rule this thread as king of the digital gray mountain that is GFY until a programmer of significant worth can dare to implement a useful system to knock me from my position... either that or just use scare tactics... But for now I am king. #1 at the top all fucking day long as long as I have shit to say and that will be a very long long fucking time...

Nah fuck the public and private stuff -- everyone should be allowed to see and enjoy the killed threads... It should be just like public executions! Everyone loves those!
