I always file the barbs off my hooks. Doesn't make it any harder to bring in fish, but 10 X's easier to live release.

Things are getting out of control...

Whether or not people should fish is another question. But pain seems to be a pretty basic and fundamental evolutionary trait. You have to assume fish feel pain.

if you read the article you will see that this latest research indicates that fish do feel pain

if you are ok with causing pain and distress to something then go ahead just dont bitch when someone or something causes pain and distress to you
