#1 Ladies Detective Agency

I watched it for a few weeks so far and tbh dont find it appealing..

HBO needs to put out some good shit like they did years ago along the line of the Sopranos and so on :helpme

tiger 04-26-2009 06:39 PM

They need to make Entourage at least an hour long and make the seasons more then 1 month long.

I will step on every ones toes so far.
Soprano's was highly overrated and actually sucked toward the end, plus entourage is not only fruity it too is overrated.

Ya that leap makes sense. HBO did good with Deadwood (aside from it ending early). Showtime has done well with Dexter. Think that covers both channels mentioned, right?

Yes I did.
I also still like Weeds, Bullshit, Real time with Bill Maher off the top of my head that are also on either of the two quoted networks.

collegeboobies 04-26-2009 07:16 PM

I'd rather watch a show about prostitutes in Africa

Redrob 04-26-2009 08:29 PM

Me, I liked Rome.....it kinda reminds me of Austin.

I love the #1 Ladies Detective Agency! Excellent story telling and actors. In Treatment is another great HBO show, although I recommend watching the first season first.

I don't like that much.

Loch 04-26-2009 10:45 PM

The pilot seemed "ok" but all downhill or just stale from there....

Its a 30 min show always has been. But with the bullshit at the start and end it is barely 20 mins of actual show.

I have some South African friends who turned me on the #1 Ladies Detective Agency books. Lends a lot of insight into S African humor. I enjoyed them and was excited to hear they were making into a tv series. Haven't caught it yet, but hope to soon.
I also loved Deadwood. Unreal characters, rich history. Both Rome and the Tudors rocked rocked as well.

TheSenator 04-27-2009 06:34 AM

The African humor definitely translates well to the television show. I'm South African and it gets me majorly home sick every week, but in a good way:)

CaptainHowdy 04-27-2009 07:36 AM

Sounds like a stinker indeed..

The Seduction of Art 04-27-2009 10:25 AM

I like it okay. The weird secretary who moves around like a stork having a coronary is a trip.

vidvicious 04-27-2009 03:28 PM

are they still producing Entourage? past season 5, Episode 12 " Return to Queens blvd"?

I can't seem to find it on the air here anymore

I watched 15 minutes of it and gave up. I agree HBO has been really lacking lately. But it looks like they are trying to set up some long running franchise programing. True Blood was good, they are also going into production with the fantasy epic book series "A Song of Ice and Fire" think LOTR meets Deadwood/Sopranos.

HBO doesn't seem to mind taking risks, so I think it is amazing that they went to Southern Africa to shoot a series that remained true to the books and culture.

But there is lots to choose from on HBO. Big Love is excellent and I can't wait for True Blood to come back. VAMPIRES!!!

I love The Tudors. I hope they squeeze two more seaons out of it. They need to make him get all fat and shit next season and go through the next two wives and then they need a season where he's not there and the two daughters go at it for the throne. Since they've been following the history pretty closely so far, even using actual recorded characters, I hope they do that. I guess it all depends if he's the show or the story is.

How can we forget Six feet Under
Great series.. Morbid, funny, sad and one of the best Endings in a series.

I dare you not to get emotional

Sarah_Jayne 04-28-2009 05:07 AM

I hate to say this..but I liked the first one. I didn't watch the new episode based thing but the first tv film I actually liked.
