Anyone here get ripped off when Mark Shae "died" a while back? Has anyone recovered money from them? I know people that were taken for thousands and they seem to think they are totally out of luck. Any word on what is happening with all of that?

You know, I'm really beginning to wonder about the state of this business.

Maybe it's time for a "hall of shame" on GFY.

The Shaes had a good thing going. They took orders mostly for bulk AVS sites, got a decent reputation, and then Mark got "sick" and the scam began. Out of sympathy, people ordered hundreds of bulk AVS feeder sites from them and they all got screwed. The day he "died" his wife was on the boards selling off the same stuff she had listed on eBay. As far as I know, everyone that did business with them near the end got scammed. I know a few people that paid up front for a thousand or so bulk feeder sites and got between 0 and 50 of them before they disappeared.

They owe me 700$.
No way to contact them, all mails bounce neither of the 'Shaes' have been online for months. Fucking A.

Apparently there are people working on tracking them down. If I hear anything I'll let you know. The scope of this fraud is in the tens of thousands of dollars so you are not alone.

Actually the 700$ they owe me are not related to any AVS's.
They tried to make me do AVS's for them for $5/piece though. I didn't.

Last I heard some people were trying to track them down in Glendale

Anyone know if they still run freepussyplay.com ? the mainpage is fucked now, but I did like 60 fronts for that site, and if the site would happen to be sold or so... I could try to collect from the new owner. No mails respond there either though.

Don't know but I'd say that your beef is with the Shaes, not the owner of the site (unless it's them). I'm sure he probably paid up front for it. The fact that you didn't get paid wouldn't be his problem. That'd be between you and the Shaes.

Of course the guy who bought the site (if anyone did) he thought he'd get everything that came with the site.
But if I sold someone my car, and they didn't pay for it.. can they sell it onwards? I think not. The new owner must give the car back to me, and then collect his money from the guy who sold the stolen car to him, am I not right?

I see your point but I would disagree with you, at least somewhat.

If you have a house built, all of the subcontractors put liens on the place until they are paid. No money, no deed for the house. So in that context I would agree with you.

If I buy content and paid the producer for it but he never paid the video store for the tape is that my problem? Hell no.

Yeah, you should definitely get paid. But the owner of that site has already paid the Shaes. As far as he's concerned you don't even exist.

I know it sucks to be screwed over but honestly I think going after the new owner is the wrong approach. You didn't have a contract with them, the Shaes did.

Him and his charming wife tried to talk me into a payment plan for Blitz.. They ended up buying Old Toms script instead because he would do one.

I wonder if they fucked him too.

If it was early in their career (the confidence building stage of the scam) probably not. If it was anytime after Mark got "sick" then yeah, he probably got scammed too.

I worked for the fucker for a few months and ended up being ripped for a small amount, i was lucky thou i got paid upfront for most of the work i did for them.

But i've stayed in contact with his old partner who got ripped for a lot and they managed to track him down and thats what led to him comitting suicide,

I guess I was lucky. I bought $300 worth of AVS designs from him before his first death. I got them a week later than promised, and they weren't too wonderful design-wise, but he did deliver.

He was selling an avs script on his board as well, ws supposed to be bigger and better than all the others out there, I wonder if it is just a reworked version of Old toms script?
