To zombie fans, have you read this book already?

This book looks mighty interesting. Has anyone read it yet?

According to Amazon.com:
"It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains." So begins Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, an expanded edition of the beloved Jane Austen novel featuring all-new scenes of bone-crunching zombie mayhem. As our story opens, a mysterious plague has fallen upon the quiet English village of Meryton?and the dead are returning to life! Feisty heroine Elizabeth Bennet is determined to wipe out the zombie menace, but she's soon distracted by the arrival of the haughty and arrogant Mr. Darcy. What ensues is a delightful comedy of manners with plenty of civilized sparring between the two young lovers?and even more violent sparring on the blood-soaked battlefield as Elizabeth wages war against hordes of flesh-eating undead. Can she vanquish the spawn of Satan? And overcome the social prejudices of the class-conscious landed gentry? Complete with romance, heartbreak, swordfights, cannibalism, and thousands of rotting corpses, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies transforms a masterpiece of world literature into something you'd actually want to read.

Looks interesting, I'll have to check it out.

I just read this... and it was fucking awesome. Brad Pitt bought the movie rights I'm told and is making a feature film:

Brad, that books is awesome too. There are already conceptual art for the production of the movie floating around. It's being directed by Mark Foster I think.

Love that book.

My favorite scene in that book is the movie producer making the documentaries... I guess followed by the Chinese submarine commune. I especially like the philosophy of the movie producer about propaganda, though. It was very touching, to me.

I haven't ever read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. I'll have to pick it up.

I love the part of the undersea zombie horde attacking the submarine. Reminded me of that scene between a real live shark and a zombie in Lucio Fulci's Zombi.

DrChango 04-23-2009 09:42 AM

I could hug all you ugly fuckers right now...well, maybe

AssPirate 04-23-2009 10:31 AM

There are a lot more satisfying zombie stories in novels than there are in movies, so sometimes I would rather retreat in one corner and enjoy the stories. :-)

I actually think their is a movie slated for this. Seems like I read it somewhere.. "World War Z" is something I'll definitely have to check out. I was walking the other day with my girlfriend and I began to discuss zombie survival techniques should the worst occur. She looked at me and said "You are such a fucking nerd". I agree, but I love me some zombies.

I've been a zombie fan ever since I first saw NOTLD (b&w) on the late show as a teenager in the mid 70s.

Brad Mitchell 04-23-2009 10:44 AM

I love zombies... Always wanted to put a fan site on my NOTLD.COM domain :)

World-War Z is a totally awesome book. I am so stoked now that there'll be a movie.

On the flip side, I believe the world will end when the V5 catches hold and we all turn into vampires...

Quote:

A Vampiric virus was first reconized as a possiblity in 1616 by the italan scientist Ludovico Fatinelli. He speculated that vampirism could be caused by a microscopic pathogen. The virus belongs to the Mononegavirales order, along with rabies. The virus can be transmitted through contact of bodily fluid, getting bit by a vampire bat, or getting bit by a bat flea.

Just finished up "World War Z" last night and I have to agree with you Brad, it's amazing. I love that its not a novel per se but a collection of accounts from those who survived the war. Great interesting read that keeps you turning the pages wanting more.

AssPirate 05-04-2009 10:19 AM
