Food Poisoning anyone?

I just had one of the worst experiences of my life. It had to have been something I ate for lunch, but I was fine all day until I got home from work, I just started to puke up a storm, and I felt like complete shit. I had to drive myself to the emergency room to check and make sure that I wasn't dying. I will for sure be more cautious as to what I eat. Damn, I still feel like shit 2 days later.

Never, but my brother had it last month.
They had to pump the stuff out of his stomach. I'm surprised some of the food was still inside, because he told me he threw up about 9 times before getting to the hospital.

Its not just meat.
It can be any food, my father had food poisoning before and it was from potato salad.

Eeek, I remember my 1st food poisoning 'bout 6 years ago, goddamn chicken wings sitting out past happy hour, I was hungry so I ate 'em. Almost 3 days of non-stop puking and diarrhea I thought I was near death. Too bad it was at the beginning of my vacation.

I was afraid of wings for years because of the trauma. I later got my Food Management Certification and realized what I ate that night.

Yuck, hope all is well now with ya Amanda, I feel your pain (and I can smell your puke from here :throwup yuck!!)

happened to me 2 days ago. I bought a whole cooked chicken from publix and four hours later i had to throw it up to stop my stomachache.

Go behind the scenes of supermarkets and restaurants and you'd be amazed how some places handle the food they are preparing.

Ever see one of the undercover food documentaries on TV? I remember one time seeing this dude drop an entire bin of lo mein noodles onto the floor at a chinese buffet. He pushed it all back into the bin using his feet and then put it back into the buffet selection for people to eat. The problem is the surfaces and people working with their hands. They put raw chicken to be seasoned on the preparation table, and then lettuce is on the same spot, or your veggies being sliced there. They go to the bathroom and don't wash their hands. Bugs crawling around, flies landing on things left uncovered.

Supermarkets are just as bad for those who avoid restaurants. They repackage meats all the time and change the dates. Things sitting in the warehouse with rats running around.

I was at a friends house once for dinner and I walked into the kitchen and she was rinsing off the chicken breasts with them sitting in the fucking sink. I couldn't believe it. Where you wash your dirty dishes you have the chicken sitting? She was like well its going into the oven anyway and all the germs will get cooked off. Yeh, true, but still that just grossed me out. At a barbecue the guy cooking dropped the plate of hot dogs ready to be cooked onto the grass and he just picked them up and tossed them all on the grill.

I've only had one really bad food poisoning. Came from bad fish at a dinner. Must have puked till I thought I was dying. Finally I told my wife at 3AM I had to go to the emergency room, this was getting seriously painful and scary. Then on the fucking way to the hospital I was laying flat on my tummy in the back seat and said to her pull over I'm gonna puke again. Pulls over and I push the door open and one of those god damn grass sprinklers is going and nails me right in the face. So I got to the emergency room soaking wet, with my hair sticking up in all directions, looking half dead in my pajamas, twisting and writhing from the stomach pain and the nurses in the adimitting area are looking at me like I just got out of the psycho ward, and were hesitant to even approach me. It was hilarious.

You have to keep surfaces disinfected and spotless wherever you are prepping food, rinse your fruits and veggies thoroughly, they harbor loads of microscopic critters, your hands washed, things stored at the proper temps and cooked thoroughly. Toss out leftovers and perishable food in your frig after 3 days. Its all common sense stuff must most people don't do it.

Statistics show about 1 out of every 3 chickens in the supermarket contain bacteria.

Been there, had that. Mine was a pizza I had ordered, it was one of those Hawaiian deals.... bacon, ham and pineapple with extra cheese. It tasted perfectly fine, but something was evidently not right with it, because by the next afternoon the back-flow began if you know what I mean. I felt like all my inside guts had turned to water and were shooting out my ass like Niagra falls.

But what an effective weight-loss program it was.

i worked at a grocery store. krl speaks the truth.

Many of those "gross" things don't actually get the body sick. Its raw or spoiled food touching other food.

Like using a knife to cut a raw chicken, then use the knife (unwashed) to cut up a carrot. That type of thing can get you sick. Most of the gross stuff doesn't really matter, its only bad to think about.

Holy shit, I feel for your sickness experience man but I laughed out loud at your sprinkler story. I bet it was hilarious! You're so right about the chicken in the sink and the hot dogs, that's the shit that some people just don't seem to understand.

Damn, good story :glugglug

Boneprone's wife food poisened me last Christmas (or maybe it was the year before)

I felt like death. Barfing, diareaha, aching, chills. It was awful. I was so sick I couldnt get out of bed. I just laid there all day, sleeping in my own vomit and stool.
