I think one of the biggest reasons it is so popular is that its very easy to use. You can just post one simple comment and go on with your business. Also all the apps that allow you to use it on your mobile devices make it jsut another thing on your phone.

LeRoy 04-21-2009 08:50 AM

I guess I've been under a rock.

I just made one. Dont know what it does but here it is.

it's ease of use is a major reason

This is the second post i have seen like this. Twitter is gonna be huge - yep. Twitter is gonna be a marketing spammers wet dream - yep.

Pushing mass garbage links out via Twitter, umm ... dont you think that kind of defeats the purpose of twitter? If your gonna use it to announce a new site, or program, or a special - sure thats good stuff. I can just see this getting so abused, very quickly.

Maybe, Im wrong - anyone have a logical answer or thought to that?

Ever tried Digg.com, it has more power naturally than twitter, and you put your message out there for the world, and see if people are actually interested.

No offense to anyone, Im sure most GFY'er are gonna use Twitter correctly, and no desire to pee in the pool regardless ... just my 2 cents.

They said myspace was huge too. Funny, I never needed it, and every page looked like a mess of a non scrolling background and a bunch of shit that tried to play as soon as you loaded the uglyness of the page anyway.. gawd.

Facebook.. yay, now every ex girlfriend and distant relative I never knew has generated emails to me saying I've been added or friended or requested or some such bullshit.

Now twitter? Ok sure. Here's a sample:

I just typed a message on a message board.

Here is another one :

Just added a recipe to food blog. Check it out - tinyurl.

Then they click, visit and click on things that make me money.

That is how it is working for me..just keeping my already interested surfers coming back for more.

Well give us your twitter account and we will change that ;)

Tom_PM 04-21-2009 10:08 AM

I want to see if somehow organically I get a follower first. I made 1 update saying "I'm not doing anything." and then logged out.
Seriously I want to see how long it takes for people to suddenly "follow" me and post links to things.

When you make a post does it appear on all of your followers' boards or are they notified somehow of about your post? For every recipe about food that you post, there are a zillion others posting similar things and a gazillion more posting unrelated gibberish. How many people are actually reading anything that you're posting?

Manowar 04-21-2009 01:21 PM

i dont use it

Don't waste your time. I made a twitter account way back when just to have a look about. Never made one single update, never added any followers and now I received daily emails saying such and such is following me.

Yeah right - more like some bot has added me to bolster their number of followers.

Personally I don't understand how people can have twitter, facebook, myspace, forums and actually get work done :2 cents:

BTW twitter might get huge, but it is still a massive LOAD of shit.

Tom_PM 04-21-2009 02:01 PM

I see yeah. It's something you have to basically use a lot, and interact with like Sarah says.

I can see the value if you do create alot of mainstream content of some sort, you'd certainly want to use twitter like you'd use youtube or anything else, and link back to your relevant content w/sales pages.

bingo..there is a difference between using it for 'fun' and for business I have a personal account but I barely use it. My biz ones I use daily.

I am not a big social networking type person at all but I don't have to like something to use it for profit.

It grows on you after awhile. There's a "hump" you have to get offer then it's fairly easy after that.
