Ohh Crap My Eel Just Vanished (Think my dog ate it)

I had an eel in my tank , it just vanished, not in the tank, not at the back of the tank, not in the filter, This is wierd I know they can escape from tanks but he is nowhere. The only thing I can think has happened is he got out of the tank where the wires for the thermostat is and our dog decided to eat him..any way im pissed he was growing nicely:(

I have no idea but thats the only thing that could have happened. The eel is just gone Iv moved the rocks checked the filters, check the sand at the bottom of the tank it couldent go underneath the cabinet because it has no gap at the bottom, and its def not anywhere on the floor

Some eels like to burrow. Is there a chance he's buried himself in the substrate.

I had a saltwater aquarium with a snowflake eel in it and one night it had escaped through a small hole in the top that was there for some equipment. I was upstairs and my dog came up and started acting funny. Like he wanted to go out but I had just walked him so I knew he didn't have to go. He had that " Timmy's in the well " desperation thing going so I went downstairs to see what was wrong. There on the carpet next to the aquarium was my eel. He was pretty dried out but still alive. I put him in the tank and he lived for a few more years until I had to give him away when he got too big for the tank.
