Why do I think its lame marketing ?

Simply the first thing is that shes under contract for the show and after hearing her sing they will be protecting her like a gold nugget...so it aint going to happen.(movie)

In the world of Web 2.0 where people can see through bullshit like this, then yes it is a lame attempt at marketing. Yes it may make them some money initially, but so do a lot of things and I honestly would not want to be remembered as the company that did this. Them doing this will turn off more people than it attracts. Plus especially with the domain, they're inviting a lawsuit IMO.
